SWEDESBORO — Marcella Pearson of Swedesboro, started her own house painting business as a branch manager intern for College Works Painting in early March and she is excited for this new opportunity.

No other internship program offers hands on experience, with taking on a hands-on role in all aspects of business such as marketing, accounting, managing employees, HR and sales. This motivated Pearson to start her own business. She notes, “What I love more than the experience is working with homeowners and that it has tested my faith in myself”.

College Works Painting is a college internship for exceptional students who want to propel their career by running their own house painting company during the spring and summer. They have 23 divisions operating in the U.S. and Canada who hire approximately 2,000 college students each year.

CWP paints over 10,000 homes annually and for every home painted, $5 is contributed to Augie’s Quest in hopes of helping Augie and Lynn Nieto achieve their dream of finding a cure for Lou Gehrig’s disease. To date, College Works Painting has donated over $300,000 to Augie’s Quest.

Marcella plans to work with a team comprised of 15 to 20 employees this summer and paint 20 homes. She is currently a junior at Rowan University who studies business management. Her career goals after college are to work in the sports industry in a corporate position and to own her own professional sports team.

“I am honored and look forward to building relationships with the homeowners and my team. My goal is to make the house painting industry more personable and to apply the business theories I have learned in school to the real world”

Founded in 1993, College Works Painting paints 11,000 homes a year nationwide and is a company that is centered on small-business service that is backed by big business security. Winner of multiple awards such as the Silver Stevie Award, the Best in Biz Award, and has a consistent A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, CWP is dedicated to making homeowners feel completely satisfied with their interior and exterior house painting services.
