East Greenwich Shredding Event Oct. 24

shredder webMICKLETON – Everyone is eager to clean up and get rid of extra paper and once again East Greenwich is offering an open shredding event on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 9 a.m.to noon at the municipal building at 159 Democrat Road, Mickleton to help.

This is a chance to purge your personal records while protecting your identity. Items that can be shredded include bills, once payment has cleared your account; bank and credit card statements once they are reconciled. With online banking these statements are available on the institution’s website; investment statements if you can easily get a copy from your broker or advisor.

Tax returns and all documentation for seven years should be kept along with  all documentation of real estate purchase as well as documentation of improvements to the property for as long as you own the property.

Bring your bags and boxes of records to the event where an experienced operator from DocuVault will destroy your documents while you watch. The operator will move the disposal bins to a highly secure, mobile shredding unit. The shredded paper will be recycled.

Only paper from households will be accepted. No businesses. Please, no plastic bags or metal including 3-ring binders and heavy binder clips.

There will also be an electronics and TV drop off. TVs up to 42 inches will be accepted. These items will be recycled according to state requirements.

The event is sponsored by the East Greenwich Environmental Commission with funding from NJ Clean Communities. For more information contact Fred Hills at fred.hills@comcast.net.
