Sept. 8: EGTFR was dispatched to the area of Kings Highway and Tomlin Station Road for a vehicle fire. Police arrived on location and advised fully involved pickup truck. Crews went to work to extinguish the fire. Crews discovered the gas tank had ruptured and gasoline spilled out on to the exhaust system, starting the fire. The Gloucester County Fire Marshall and Gloucester County Haz-Mat Team were notified as a precaution. Crews were in services for just over 1 hour.

Sept. 13: EGTFR was dispatched to the TA Truck Stop for a building fire. Workers reported the “smell of something burning” and a “chemical smell” in the building. Several workers complained of sore throats and were transported by Gloucester County EMS to the hospital. Gloucester County Fire Marshall’s office also responded. Crews investigated but found nothing. The building was ventilated; crews rechecked with chemical detection meters and still found nothing. Crews were in service for 85 minutes.

Sept. 17: EGTFR was dispatched to 13 Berkley Road for a service assignment. The fire dept. was requested by Gloucester County Animal Control to assist in removing a storm drain grate. A group of kittens had fallen in and became trapped in the drain. Crews were in service for 11 minutes,

Sept. 20: EGTFR was dispatched to Rt. 295 northbound at mile marker 17.3 for a commercial motor vehicle crash. A single tractor trailer had left the roadway and crashed through trees and a fence. The driver was transported to the hospital, the passenger and two dogs were uninjured. Upon impact, one of the fuel saddle tanks ruptured. Gloucester Co Haz-Mat Team and the DEP were notified. Crews stood by while GCHMT determined how to stop the leak. The EGTFR was released when it was determined the leak had stopped and a private tow company was brought in to handle vehicle. Crews were in service for 94 minutes.

Sept 20: While crews were operating at the commercial Motor Vehicle Crash, EGTFR was dispatched to a fire alarm at Cinder Bar, 119 Berkley Road.  Engine 1911’s crew responded to investigate. It was determined to be accidental by employees using a new kind of wood for their brick fired oven that caused too much smoke. Crews cleared and returned to the crash scene.

Sept 30: EGTFR was dispatched into Logan Township for a building fire at 501 Sharptown Road. Crews arriving found one of two 4,000 gallon tanks of oil on fire inside the building. Crews went to work to extinguish the fire and protect the other tank. No employees were injured. It took about 90 minutes to put the fire under control. Camden County’s Fan Unit was brought in to ventilate the building. Crews were in service for 2-1/2 hours. Also responding were Logan, Woolwich, Gibbstown, West Deptford, Westville, Mantua, and Gloucester County EMS.

Oct 17: EGTFR was dispatched to the Shady Lane Developmental Center for a fire alarm. Crews arrived and found a water flow alarm in the sprinkler system. On investigation, crews and maintenance found water leaking from a hallway ceiling between two classrooms. It was determined to be from a pinhole in the sprinkler system pipe in the attic that was leaking. The Gloucester County Fire Marshall’s Office was requested to respond. Maintenance shut the system down, notified the sprinkler company and posted a fire watch. Crews were in service for about 1 hour.

Oct 20: EGTFR was dispatched to 169 Cedar Road for a brush fire. Crews arriving found a small brush fire. Crews were able to handle the fire with Brush 1915. Because of the suspicious nature, the Gloucester County Fire Marshall’s office was requested to investigate. Crews cooled the hot spots and cleared the scene. Crews were in service for 90 minutes.
