TWO Hueys and two AH-1 Super Cobra helicopters did a fly over as part of opening ceremonies for the fourth annual Ryan’s Home Run Derby held on May 20 at the Kingsway Regional High School baseball field. This annual event is held in honor of Marine Corps Capt. Ryan K. Iannelli, a former Kingsway graduate, who was killed on September 28, 2011 while performing combat operations in Hellmand Province, Afghanistan. Iannelli was a pilot of a Super Cobra. Opening ceremonies also included the Color Guard from the Maine Aircraft Group 49, the Warriors Watch Riders lining the infield holding the American flags as shown here, and a speech from two of Iannelli’s friends. The derby proceeds benefit the Ryan’s 41319 Foundation and the Ryan K. Iannelli Memorial Scholarship given to a Kingsway Regional High School graduating senior.
