GRASSO – Nancy C. Grasso, age 70 (nee Munyan) of Mantua Twp. passed away June 27 at Inspira Medical of Woodbury, with her husband Joseph at her side. Born in Washington State, she has resided in Mantua Twp. for the past 44 years, coming from Magnolia. She was a graduate of Trenton High School, Class of 1961 and held many positions of employment including a bookkeeper for the former Sheldon Ford and a volunteer for the Gloucester County Probation Department. Nancy was a member and past president of the Mantua Twp. Republican Club, worked at the voting polls at each election and a member of the Barnsboro Fire Co. Auxiliary and a member of the Church of the Incarnation in Mantua. Nancy was devoted to her family, loved to cook, crafting, country music, all types of animals and road trips.

Nancy was pre-deceased by a son, Stephen Paul and is survived by her husband of 45 years, Joseph L. Grasso, her children, Nancy Carol (Joseph) O’Shaughnessy and Thomas Grasso. Her grandchildren, Joseph and Jennifer, a great-grandchild, Jaycen, and her brother, Ronald (Ronda) Munyan.

RENARD — James T. Renard, Jr. of Clarksboro, suddenly on Independence Day, July 4. Age 61 years. A loving, family oriented man, Jim was a quick witted, outgoing people person who made friends easily. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. A jack of all trades, he was the “go to guy” for everyone’s handyman needs. Jim never stopped learning; he possessed great knowledge on many topics, but was most passionate about history. A hard worker, who provided for his family by working for Conrail for over 25 years, he retired as a freight conductor, and President of Local #300, Philadelphia. Jim was very active in Conrail’s “Operation Life Saver”, which educated students and the public in general about railroad and train safety. He supported his sons with their sports endeavors and paid it forward by coaching Kingsway’s Youth wrestling and football. Besides spending time with his family, Jim enjoyed gardening and cheering on the Phillies and the Eagles.

He is the beloved husband of Marianne E. (nee DiGenni); devoted father of James T., III, John and Joseph Renard; loving grandfather of Garrett, Emma and Westin; son of the late Elizabeth (nee Ray) and James T. Renard, Sr. and special son-in-law of Betty (nee Kavano) and the late Albert DiGenni; dear brother of the late Joan Spissel (surviving, Rich), Elizabeth Borgmann (the late, George), Lillian Brittingham (Paul); uncle to many nieces and nephews; faithful master of Jake, the Golden Retriever. MACCARONE — Concetta P. Maccarone, age 92, of Woolwich Township passed away July 5 at Southgate Health Care Center, Carney’s Point, NJ. Born in Philadelphia, she has been a resident of Woolwich Township since 1925 and was a secretary and seamstress at the former Bell’s Cleaners in Swedesboro. Concetta was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, loved working in the garden, growing flowers, vegetables and concord grapes. She loved her family and her church. With her late sister Sara, using their time and talents, they sewed Baptismal Bibs for the newborns, sewed and altered vestments for the priests and re-painted the religious statutes and Stations of the Cross at St. Josephs’ Church in Swedesboro.

Concetta is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Joseph Maccarone, Catherine Bonaccorsi, Mary Musumeci, Sara Maccarone and Josephine Vasta. Services were held at the CHEEGA FUNERAL HOME, Swedesboro. Share memories at www.cheegafuneralhome.com.

GRASSO — Lorraine Grasso, age 83, of Mickleton, passed away July 8 at home with her daughters at her side. Born in Bridgeport, NJ, she resided in Mickleton for the past 60 years. Lorraine was a graduate of Clayton High School, Class of 1950 and was married to the late Thomas M. Grasso for 58 years. Thomas passed away in January of 2014. Lorraine was a homemaker and farmer’s wife. She was a selfless individual, putting the needs of her family and friends before her own. She loved to cook and always made sure her family and friends were well fed. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, the St. Josephs Altar- Rosary Society, a charter member of the East Greenwich Twp. Democrat Club, the East Greenwich Township Zoning Board for 15 years, the East Greenwich Township Board of Education from 1976 to 1982, the Kingsway Regional School Board from 1980 to 2012 and was an outspoken advocate for public education. Lorraine organized the Gloucester County Board of Agriculture Farm Market at the annual 4-H Fair for 15 years. The proceeds benefitted the Gloucester County Board of Agriculture Scholarship Fund and she received the Distinguished Service Agricultural Award in 2007. She also organized events for the East Greenwich Township Senior Citizens. She was an avid reader and loved to go to yard sales.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters, Mary Kay Grasso, Carolyn Grasso (Mark Kehoe) and Fran (Jerry) DeFiccio. Her grandchildren, Andrew (Kate), Sarah (Jason), David (Sara), Nicholas, Philip, Nicolas, and Matthew. Her great-grandchildren, Aliyah and Grace. Her brothers-in-law, Sam (Betty) Grasso, John (MaryAnn) Grasso and sister-in-law, Lucy Grasso, many devoted nieces and nephews and her dearest friend Marcienne Doerrmann. SARBELLO — Mary Sarbello 100 years 6 months and hardly a second wasted. Mary was a girl on the move. You’d recognize her from her huge smile, her very familiar hat matched perfectly to her outfits and the little frog attached to her back. Always a spitfire, Mary didn’t need an alarm system. In her 90’s someone broke into her home, he hightailed it out of there when she told him to beat it. She was an 80 year member of St. Joseph’s Church where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society and supplied jokes to the priests. She was always game for a trip with Thompson Tours and Logan Twp. Seniors where she was the life of the party: Mary’s laughter and singing were contagious. Many a stray cat found its way into her heart. She couldn’t help but care for them. She went to the Ocean City beach every summer, but was always certain to have one of the boys escort her into the water. Tuesdays were always for shopping at Cowtown. A young Mary Stirbis attended a dance at Clementon Lake Park. The handsome Angelo swept her off of her feet. Her family asked Mary what he did for a living: “Who cares? He is a great dancer.”

Before his death they’d be blessed with three children, Joseph (Deborah), Michael (Lois) and Anita (Russell) Hall, nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services were held at DALEY LIFE CELEBRATION STUDIO, Swedesboro. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Woolwich.

HILL – Robert C. Hill, Jr., age 34, of West Deptford and formerly of Swedesboro, passed away July 13 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Woodbury, he had also resided in Westville Oaks, NJ. He was a graduate of Deptford High School, Class of 1999 and was a contractor. Bob had been the coach for the West Deptford Hockey Organization for the past eight years. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Patricia (nee Dunn), his children, Joshua (J.J.) Hill and (Lil) Patty. His parents, Lisa Marie Hill and Robert Hill, Sr., his siblings Nikole Tress and Jason Anthony Hill and Mom-mom Joan Rich.

Services were held at the Cheega Funeral Home, Swedesboro. Contributions in his memory may be sent to the family, c/o Cheega Funeral Home, 1329 Kings Hwy., Swedesboro, to help with expenses and would be deeply appreciated.

STANG — John (Jack) W. Stang, Jr. age 72 of Logan Twp. passed away peacefully on July 19 at his residence with his wife at his side. Born Sept. 23, 1942 in Taylor Hospital to Marian T. and John Stang Sr. Jack lived in Ridley Farms, Middletown Twp. (Delco), Claymont DE and the past 27 years in Logan Twp. He was educated by the Ridley Twp. and Rose Tree Media School Systems, 2nd (Aston) Presbyterian, Crum Lynne and Faith Baptist Churches, US Military and Penn Morton College. He was employed in the Research and Development Dept. of Scott Paper (Foam Div) Foamex Corp for 46 years, five months and 11 days retiring in 2007. Jack was also a US Army Veteran serving in Korea in 1965-66.

He is survived by Nancy A. Stang, his wife, partner and friend for 26 years, two daughters, Renee Tanya Kandravi (Robert) of Mechanicsville, VA, Justine Marie Stone of Newark, DE, and a step-daughter Arlene E. Cohen (Ben) of Malvern PA and his loving grandchildren, Robert John (RJ), Samantha, Staci, Justin, Katlyn, Corina, Nate, David, Cassiday and Alexis who were all loved equally. He was predeceased by a son, David John. It was Jacks’ wish that his funeral service be private with his final resting place to be the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery and that anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory be made to Jefferson Hospital, Childrens Unit, c/o 111 S. 11th Street, Phila.
