June 15: EGTFR was dispatched to a dwelling fire at 709 Billings Ave in Paulsboro. First arriving crews reported a working dwelling fire and an all hands alarm was sounded. The family was evacuated. Crews were on location for 3-1/2 hours. The Red Cross is assisting the family. Dispatched were Paulsboro, EGTFR, Gibbstown, West Deptford, Westville and GC EMS. GC Fire Marshall is investigating

June 28: EGTFR was dispatched to Timberlane Campground, Lot 9 for a Carbon Monoxide Alarm. Crews arrived to find the family evacuated from a travel trailer. The caller reported the CO alarm sounding then shutting off. Crews metered the trailer, nothing was found. CO alarm was found to be expired, owner was advised to replace alarm unit.

June 30: EGTFR was dispatched to 125 Kings Hwy. for gas fumes. A road construction crew had ruptured an underground gas line. Kings Hwy. was closed in that area. Crews stood by waiting for SJ Gas to arrive and shut the line down. Crews were in service for 1 hour.

July 5: EGTFR was dispatched to 5 Knights Ct. in Harrison Twp for a dwelling fire. Harrison’s Fire Chief reported a working dwelling fire and struck an all hands alarm. Damage was held mostly to the garage area. Crews were in service for 75 minutes. Dispatched were Harrison, EGTFR, Glassboro, Pitman, Elk Twp and GC EMS.

July 11: This turned into a very busy day for EGTFR. At 06:10 EGTFR was dispatched to a fire alarm at 10 S. Main St in Harrison Twp. GC Communications then directed crews to respond with Glassboro and Harrison Twp to Route 55, Exit 50 southbound for a commercial motor vehicle crash. Arriving crews found an open top recycling truck overturned on the on-ramp. Crews were in service for about 20 minutes. At 08:31 EGTFR was dispatched to the GC Fire Marshall’s Office, 212 County House Rd., for a building. Dispatchers in the building reported seeing light smoke coming from one of the desks. The building was evacuated. Crews investigated and found nothing. Also responding were Harrison, Woolwich, Paulsboro and Gibbstown. At 13:37 crews were dispatched to 68 Berkley Rd. for an alarm system. Careless cooking was found to be the cause. Crews then headed to The Little Gym on Berkley Rd. Their Day Camp was honoring “Hometown Heroes”. EGTFR, along with EGPD and GC EMS stopped by. Kids were given fire prevention tips, a tour of the apparatus and given the chance to handle a real fire nozzle.
