WOOLWICH TWP. — “This is a tale that we want to believe in, a world we desperately desire, where love and decency and generosity of spirit are their own rewards. This is what we want Christmas to be all about, really.” So writes the Santa Cruz Sentinel of this most heartwarming holiday play, Miracle On 34th Street.

Start your holiday season by attending a performance of Miracle On 34th Street when Kingsway students open their rendition on Thursday, Dec. 7, 8, and 9 in Kingsway’s Eitel Theater at 6:30 p.m. for evening performance and a special 2 p.m. matinee.

In this story, by chance, Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macy’s. Kris unleashes waves of good will with Macy’s customers and the commercial world of New York City by referring parents to other stores to find exactly the toy their child has asked for.

Seen as deluded and dangerous by a Macy’s vocational counselor who plots to have Kris shanghaied to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital, Kris ends up in a court competency hearing. Especially at stake is one little girl’s belief in Santa.

In a dramatic decision, the court must decide not only the fate of Kris, but the joys of countless children to experience the joy and love of Christmas.

The doors will open at 5 p.m. for the evening performances and at 12 noon for the matinee for kids of all ages to tell Santa their wish list. Please also join in at that time to get your child’s pictures taken with Santa.
