Swedesboro Woolwich Day 2014 Grand Plans are shaping up

sw day webSWEDESBORO — As advertised, Swedesboro Woolwich Day 2014 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., bringing back a few favorites and some new attractions. The festivities will follow the 8th Annual 5k Dragon Run.

Again, this year’s event is guaranteed to exceed your expectations and entertain you as you stroll through downtown Swedesboro. New features are: a High Striker – a test your strength carnival game, and while waiting in line, you may Flip a Chick; Kingsway Varsity Wrestling is featuring “Wrestling Dummy Toss” – 25 pound and 45 pound dummies; and at Schoener’s lot there will be a 24foot Mechanical Rock Wall.

While the stage is being set for performances, there will be local up and coming singers and demonstrations to engage the crowd. You may see characters, jugglers and magicians strolling the street. For certain, the popular Stilt Walker, who can see over all the crowd will be on hand to direct attendees to the performances at the two stages.

The Main Stage will feature two local bands this year – Teddi P’s UOM Band and Back Creek. The Kid’s Stage will again feature Swedesboro Woolwich Little Theater where you can also showcase your own singing skills with Karaoke.

Because of our generous sponsors, we are excited to offer more free activities for all age groups. The Fun Bus will be near the main stage from 11a.m. to 2:30 p.m., elaborate face painting near the kid’s stage, two moon bounces, a caricaturist, and balloon artists.

Kingsway High School continues to be a force behind the day, as the Dragon Run benefits the Nathaniel Boerlin Scholarship Fund. Details and registration information for the race can be found at www.NateRocksHeaven.org.

The winners of the run are announced at the opening of the event at the main stage at 10a.m. after the Kingsway Marching Band kicks off the day with a few numbers. Kingsway provides a large group of volunteers through Interact service organization, the shuttles, and various teams and clubs bring their wares to be sold to interested visitors.

All sports-related booths for Kingsway and other local teams will be located at the north end of Kings Highway.

Some notable returning features are the popular car show, crafters and local vendors, as well as Historical information and demonstrations. You can sit and enjoy a bite to eat at the Food Court on Railroad Avenue and you’ll also find delicious local fare mixed in amongst the blocks of booths from the Kids Zone at Grant Avenue to Church Street.

Come mingle, eat, and have fun at Swedesboro Woolwich Day on Sept. 27. It’s not just an event, it’s an experience.

The best way to get to the event is to hop on a shuttle from Kingsway High School, Charles Stratton School, or Walter Hill School. Buses will run continuously throughout the day.
