Jean Marie Rode

RODE – Jean Marie Rode. That guy who makes the doughnuts would blush if he saw how hard Jean worked. Her work ethic was forged early as a child on the family’s horse farm in South Harrison. She did everything from grooming horses to bailing hay. In 1980 her green thumb and artistic abilities led to the creation of Rode’s Greenhouse. She was often found with a wheel barrel in her hands and a child on her back. When they were older they worked beside her. Daytime may have found her with dirty hands and her hair a bit askew, but if you saw her out in the evening she’d be transformed like Cinderella.

Though she was in school with a young Chris Rode, it was years after graduation that they would connect. After Chris died (way too young) Jean continued on with the business and raised their three children: Christina Ann, Earl IV, and Jacqueline Elaine. She is also survived by her father, Roy Reisenweaver, mother, Jean Lolly, Heather Turner, Kristie Reisenweaver, and companion, David Hanst.

Services were held at Daley Life Celebration Studio, Swedesboro.
