Culture, Heritage, and Genealogy of New Sweden Colonists” – Tuesday, Oct. 22 – 7 p.m. Dr. Kim-Eric Williams, Swedish Colonial Society Historian, will discuss “Culture, Heritage, and Genealogy of New Sweden Colonists.” Join us for our third speaker as part of our Swedish History Project.  The program will prove to be both educational and informative.  Call 856-467-0111 or go to www.gcls.org to register.

South Jersey Ghost Research – Tuesday, Oct. 8 – 7 p.m. Have you ever wondered about the paranormal? This program will include audio and video presentations, recorded ghost voices of actual case files, equipment displays, Q & A session, flyers and handouts.

New Program for Seniors“Caring and Sharing with Seniors” –- There will be no Caring and Sharing program for the month of October due to a scheduled In-service Day.  Join us on Nov. 8 – 11 a.m. Caring and Sharing is a fun time of social activities:  puzzles, games, music, crafts, bingo, and more!  We will meet on the second Friday of each month from 11-12 pm.  Call 856-467-0111 for more information

Adult Book Club – The adult book club will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. This club meets the last Tuesday of each month. October’s selection will be Big Russ and Me by Tim Russert.

Stencil Craft – Children will stencil a canvas bag and learn about trees in our “Celebrate Trees” program on Thursday, Oct. 24 – 7 p.m. Learn how to identify leaves, stencil leaves onto a canvas bag, and enjoy some refreshments. This special children’s program is provided by the Swedesboro shade Tree Commission. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.

Abrakadoodle Art – Register today for Abrakadoodle Art on Monday, Oct. 28 6:30 p.m. Each child will go home with a framed finished piece of art.

Amazing Math Labs (STEM) – 4th through 6th graders are invited to a once-a month meeting to enjoy some fun math activities.  Our first meeting will be Thursday, Oct.  3 – 7 p.m.

PAWS for Reading – Register your child to read to a trained therapy dog for a 15 minute time slot – This month’s dates will be Monday, Oct. 7 and 21 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please register by calling 467-0111 or at the library.  Permission slips are required.

Teen/Tween Writers’ Club – If you love writing, need new ideas, like sharing ideas/stories/poems, and/or learning new writing techniques and types of writing – this club is for you.  Our new meeting date will be the second Mondays of each month.  Our first meeting will be Monday, Oct. 14 – 4:30 p.m.

Teen/Tween Drawing Club – Our drawing club will begin again on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 4:30 pm. We meet once a month on the second Wednesdays of each month. For several years, students have enjoyed instruction under retired Art Teacher, Ethel Cruz. If you’re committed to attending for 8 months of learning and drawing, please register at www.gcls.org or call 856-467-1693.  Space is limited.

Teen Chill Time – Saturday, Oct. 1211-12:30 p.m. Come out and bring a friend for our Teen Chill Time. Gaming includes Wii, Xbox 360 Kinect, DS’s, and traditional card and board games. Socialize with friends while enjoying refreshments.

Teen/Tween Book Club – Thursday, Oct. 10 – 7 p.m. Our teen/tween book club meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.  October’s selection will be Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper

Teen Advisory Board – Join our Teen Advisory Board.  Be a Reading Buddy, work with children, learn library skills, or help plan teen activities.  Do you enjoy writing?  Write reviews and/or create quarterly teen newsletters.  Call 467-0111 for information on how you can volunteer or become an active member

Story Time – Story Time is a fun time!  We meet on Tuesday

mornings at 10:30 am (Oct. 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29). Story Time is best suited for children ages 2-1/2 to 5 years of age. Registration required.

Little Yogis – This program will meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month.  August’s date is Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 12 pm. Little Yogis is an especially designed yoga for preschoolers. Class size is limited. Please bring a beach towel and water. For more information, call 856-467-0111.  Permission slips are required.

Lunch with Miss Julie – Join Miss Julie for lunch, followed by her afternoon story time on the fourth Wednesdays of each month.  This month’s date will be Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 12:30 p.m. Bring a bagged lunch and eat with your story time friends then join Miss Julie for Afternoon Story Time.

Afternoon Story TimeWednesday afternoons at 1 p.m. October dates are Oct. 2, 9, 16, 23, & 30 – Library meeting Room. Registration required.

Baby Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Bring your baby to a fun time of music – familiar songs, activities and fingerplays. Baby Time will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3 & 17 – 10:30 a.m. Registration required.

Toddler Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Your toddler will enjoy a fun time marching, playing instruments, and singing familiar songs and fingerplays. This month’s dates are Oct. 10 & 24 – 10:30 a.m. Registration required.

Homework and Reading Buddies – Children interested in a homework or reading buddy during the 2012-2013 school year should contact the library at 467-0111. Teens from our Teen Advisory Board assist younger children with homework and help them with different academic skills.
