Plan for financial security with free life-skills workshops

gccDEPTFORD TWP. — The Center for People in Transition at Gloucester County College is offering an assortment of personal finance, healthy living and wellness workshops during the month of December. “Basic Budgeting Life-Skills Workshop” — Nancy Hawn, M.S., NJAPM, will explain the purpose and importance of having a budget, including how to create and use it as a monthly tool to stay on track to achieve financial goals. She will talk about fixed and variable spending and distinguish between essential and non-essential purchases. Short- and long-term savings needs will be explored as well as the use of credit. The workshop will wrap up with a general overview of the role insurance plays in protecting income and minimizing unexpected expenses. It meets Thursday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Everything Elder Legal Clinic” — Victoria M. Dalton, Esq., will provide legal information in an array of areas that are most important to senior citizens. Individuals are welcome to bring their lunches and join Dalton as she answers all their questions relating to elder needs. It meets Friday, Dec. 6 from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

“Laws of Separation and Divorce” — An attorney from the Gloucester County Bar Association will speak on grounds for divorce, court procedures, alimony, equitable distribution, custody, visitation rights and other concerns. It will meet Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m.

“Grow the Biggest Emotion We Fear: Joy” — Certified Professional Life Coach Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld will lead this transformative workshop that shows individuals how to let go of pain and usher joy into their lives. Joy is an elusive emotion that everyone desires. She will demonstrate how busy lifestyles can create drama or stress and suggest creative ways to bring more joy into life. It meets Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Gloucester County College’s 250-acre campus is located at 1400 Tanyard Road in Deptford, right off Exit 56 of Route 55.
