Here are a few things you can do that may help keep your house off the burglar’s radar:

  • Don’t advertise. Burglars look for occupancy cues such as piled up newspapers and exterior lights on 24 hrs. a day. Use inexpensive light timers and have friends or neighbors pickup circulars.
  • If you do leave, make your home appear occupied. Leave a radio or TV on.
  • Don’t place empty boxes outside your house that let thieves know what you have

purchased. Break the boxes down and comingle them with other recyclables..

  • Refrain from leaving your blinds open to display your Christmas tree and gifts.
  • Don’t leave your garage door open unnecessarily and/or unattended.
  • Be cognizant of your surroundings and report all suspicious activity.
