County Announces Flu Immunization Clinic Schedule

flue webWOODBURY — The Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced today that the County’s Department of Health has scheduled 36 clinics for the 2104 Influenza Immunization Program.
Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said, “The county will be offering no-cost, convenient flu shot clinics because it is very important to keep our residents healthy.”
Freeholder Adam J. Taliaferro said that beginning on Saturday, Oct. 4 the Gloucester County Department of Health would begin its no-cost flu shot program open to all residents age 6 months and older.
Taliaferro said, “Those who are youngest and oldest and medically compromised could experience serious complications as a result of the flu and really need to get immunized, but it is just as important that healthy adults get their flu shot too.”
“Among vaccine-preventable diseases in adults, the flu has the greatest impact in the U.S. population. The flu is preventable and with the County’s convenient and cost-free immunization program we make it easy for you to stay flu-free this winter,” said, Taliaferro, liaison to the Department of Health.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the Flu Vaccine for all persons aged 6 months and over. The County’s program is available to Gloucester County residents only and proof of residency is required. Drive-thru clinics have been scheduled to accommodate senior citizens and those who have difficulty walking or standing in line. Special clinics have also been scheduled during the evenings and weekends to accommodate working families and as a courtesy there are special clinics designated for families with children.
