Swedesboro Woolwich Parks and Recreation Upcoming Events

swed wool parks webSWEDESBORO — The 2015 calendar year is underway and there is a wonderful line-up for you. Follow us (like us) on FACEBOOK or on the Woolwichtwp.org site under the Parks and Recreation page.

Father-Daughter Dances (for daughters in Swedesboro or Woolwich): Yes, we have expanded to THREE dances. Dance #1 will be Friday, March 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (for 2nd and 3rd graders). Dance #2 will be Saturday, March 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (for Pre-K through 1st grade). Dance #3 will be held on Saturday, March 21 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. (for 4th through 6th grade students).

Tickets went on sale Feb. 20 and are available online only. Due to fire code capacity restrictions, there is limited space available. Further information will be posted on our Facebook page.

Be sure to look for our Mother-Son Event in the near future.

Next, Parks and Rec is sponsoring a Golf Clinic on Saturday, March 21 at Town and Country Golf Club in Woodstown. There will be two sessions.

The first class is for ages 7 to 9 years old from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the second class is from 12 noon to 2 p.m. The cost is $18 per child.

All children must be accompanied by a parent. Town & Country Golf Club is located at 197 East Ave in Woodstown. Please go to the Woolwich Township Municipal Building to register and to make payment.

Join in the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Locke Avenue Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28. This free event hosts fun to children of all ages with 10,000 candies, stickers and trinkets fill the eggs. Co-host Crossbridge Community Church helps provide the fun.

Parents, please register your children from 10:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in front of the Pavilion at Locke Avenue Park. The times for each Easter Egg Hunt are as follows: Children 3 years and younger at 11:30 a.m., ages 4-6 at 12:15 p.m., ages 7 and up at 12:45 p.m.

There will be free face painting, balloon artists, tattoos, games, and even free cookies and juice for the kids at the rear of the Pavilion. Bunny portrait packages will be offered by Perfect Day photography, www.perfectdayphotography.com.

If it is raining, join in indoors for the Easter Egg Hunt at General Harker Elementary School located on Oldman’s Creek Road.

The Fourth Annual Summer Camp Connection Night for parents will be held on Thursday, April 9 at the General Harker School Cafeteria from 7 to 9 p.m. Please stop in to get information and speak to representatives from local summer camps.

This event is open to residents of surrounding communities too. Fun Day Unlimited Ride wristbands will be available for sale at this event. Wristbands cost $25 per person. Fun Day will be held on May 30.

If anyone would like to attend as a vendor to promote their camp, please contact jwilliams011@comcast.net for registration information or download the vendor form from the Woolwich Township website, Parks and Rec page. Since the event is being held in the Harker Cafeteria, vendors do not have to bring a table.

Does your group, club or business have knowledge on a topic that will help educate our community regarding any aspect of wellness, safety or health? Human, animal, earth or other wellness; safety in home, at play, or at work; local resources for health; mental and physical well-being, then we need you. Be a vendor at our Health, Wellness and Safety Fair on Saturday, April 18 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harker School in Woolwich.

This year will be bigger and better than ever-a contest will be announced to see which classes from the Swedesboro Woolwich School District will earn the most points for a special surprise. This fair will be a completely interactive, hands-on experience with educational games or demonstrations and screenings along with health, wellness or safety related give-aways.

Lastly, please join in for the 911 Memorial & Museum with Dinner Bus Trip on Thursday, May 14 presented by the Aged to Perfection Group. The cost of the trip is $85 and it includes dinner at Mastori’s (five course meal), 911 Memorial and Museum, round trip motor coach, courtesy stop on the way home. Payments must be made at the Woolwich Township Municipal Building. Proof of S/W residency must be shown when payment is made.
