LOADED, STOLEN GUN & DRUGS RECOVERED BY LOGAN POLICE

logan policeBRIDGEPORT – Logan Township Police recovered a loaded .45 semi-automatic handgun and drugs after a vehicle stop on Rt. 130 on Sept. 17.

Police have charged a Chester, PA man with various weapons offenses following the vehicle stop on Rt. 130 Northbound in the Bridgeport section of the township. The arrest took place when Logan Twp. Ptl. Ryan Ragone conducted a motor vehicle stop for various violations, including speeding and failure to stop, that occurred while the suspect was operating a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria on High Hill Road.

While speaking with the driver, 30 year old Leslie Spaulding Jr., Ragone detected an odor of both burnt and raw marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle located a loaded .45 Taurus semi-automatic handgun under the driver seat.

The gun had a round in the chamber, and the magazine contained 10 hollow point rounds. Further investigation revealed that the handgun had been reported stolen to Chester Police in April 2014.

The vehicle was impounded while a warrant was sought and executed. Items seized incident to the search warrant execution included marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a 22 inch machete, and an additional loaded magazine.

Spaulding was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point rounds, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was processed and committed to the Salem County Jail in default of $75,000 full cash bail.
