MICHAEL MASSARO, son of Ron and Karen Massaro of Woolwich Township.
School Activities: Plays lead trumpet in all Kingsway music ensembles, including Select Jazz Band, National Champion Marching Band, and Symphonic Band, President of Tri-M Music Honor Society, Interact, host of Battle of the Bands, bass and trumpet player in The Pinheads (Battle of the Bands 2016 Champions), and delegate at Princeton Model Congress.
Out of School Activities: All South Jersey Symphonic Band, Rowan University Jazz Camp, and works at CVS.
Honors/Awards: Honor Roll all of junior year into senior year, taps performer at both Kingsway’s and Swedesboro’s Memorial Day ceremonies and Woolwich Township’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony. President of Kingsway’s Chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society, outstanding soloist at multiple competitive jazz festivals, and appointed by Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders as a member of Kingsway’s National Champion Marching Band.
Future Plans: Michael intends on becoming a Music Education major at either West Chester University or University of the Arts to later become a high school music teacher. He would like to continue performing and arranging alongside of teaching, and eventually plans to further his education by earning a master’s degree.
SIMRAN SHINH, daughter of Aksh and Roopali Shinh of Woolwich Township.
School Activities: Mock Trial, Newspaper, Habitat for Humanity, World Wildlife Fund, National Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society.
Out of School Activities: Art (at George Kaizar School of Art), teaching fencing, and fencing competitively.
Honors/Awards: National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Student, AP Scholar, Superintendent’s List, STEM Academy, competed at 2014 Fencing Summer Nationals, and 2015 Junior Olympics.
Future Plans: Simran will be attending Cornell University in the fall of 2016, and majoring in Computer Science in The College of Engineering.
