THOROFARE — Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger and Freeholder Jim Jefferson said that the Gloucester County Division of Senior Services Nutrition Program still has Senior Farmers’ Market vouchers/checks available to distribute to Gloucester County senior citizens.
The Farmer’s Market vouchers may be used to buy locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs at 22 different farm markets and roadside markets in Gloucester County.
Director Damminger said, “The program has been increased to $25 this year and that will go a long way to helping our seniors buy fresh grown produce, and help our farmers who grow and sell produce.” Damminger said that the farmers who participate in the program do so voluntarily.
Freeholder Jefferson, Liaison to the Division of Senior Services said, “Access to fresh produce is vital to the health of our seniors. Many of our seniors live on a fixed income and every bit helps them and they can use these vouchers to enjoy the abundant produce that is grown locally.”
To be eligible for the Farmers’ Market vouchers the senior must have an annual income less than $21,978 for a household of one and $29,637 for a household of two. Eligible seniors will be given (5) $5.00 vouchers for a total of $25.00 per person.
An eligibility application must also be completed before receiving the vouchers and the applicant must provide proof of income by providing one of the following documents: Social Security Statement, 2015 Income Tax, Medicare & Pension Statements, Bank Statement, or Medicaid Card. The PAAD card is NOT accepted as proof of income.
Vouchers are available at the Division of Senior Services, 115 Budd Blvd Complex, West Deptford.
