Kingsway names new head coaches, physician; announces Cooper Bone and Joint partnership

kingsway logoWOOLWICH TWP. — The Kingsway Regional School District has named Caitlin Hess the new head coach of the high school’s head girls cross country and Jayme Gatti as head girls soccer coach at the July Board of Education meeting.

Kingsway is also pleased to announce Dr. Nils Brolis, D.O. as the school new physician and very excited to start a new partnership with Cooper Bone and Joint.

Superintendent Dr. James Lavender said, “We are excited to welcome all the new opportunities to the Kingsway family for the 2016-2017 school year. We are confident that they will have an inspirational impact on our students at Kingsway.”

“I am very excited to bring these individuals on staff. They bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Kingsway a fit into our goals and philosophy of the athletic department. They will be an asset to the Kingsway’s athletic department and the school district,” said Kingsway’s Athletic Director June Cioffi.

Hess already has led a resurgence in Kingsway swimming during her four-year tenure as head coach, has the pedigree needed to carry the girls’ cross country program to the next level. She has been the boys’ and girls’ cross country team’s assistant coach for the past four years, a span that saw the programs win six Gloucester County, five conference, and two South Jersey titles, as well as a state championship.

Hess also has been an assistant coach for the boys and girls track teams for the past four years, in which the programs collectively have won five Gloucester County, five conference, and two South Jersey championships.

She graduated with a degree in biology from Ramapo College, where she also was a four-year letter winner in soccer. Hess currently is in her fifth year as a biology teacher at the high school and is finishing her Master’s Degree in Educational Administration at Rowan University.

Gatti graduated from Delran High School in 2005 and was a four-year varsity letter winner. She served as captain her senior year and was awarded all-conference honors as a goalkeeper. She started her collegiate soccer career playing for Rowan University and then finished her last three years at Rutgers-Camden University where she served as captain her senior year and was named to the NJAC Honorable Mention team in 2008.

After college she served as an assistant coach for one season at Rutgers-Camden before coming to Kingsway as an assistant the last two seasons. Jayme has great soccer knowledge and has attended several camps and clinics over the years and has a great rapport with her players. Jayme is a third year teacher in our high school business department

Brolis comes to us from Urgent Care in Mullica Hill and is excited to get involved in the Kingsway Athletic Department.  Brolis is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. He earned his doctorate of osteopathic medicine in 2011 from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s School of Osteopathic Medicine.

After finishing medical school, he completed a residency in family medicine at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Brolis subsequently served as family medicine chief resident for Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, and then continued on to provide care as a family medicine and urgent care physician at Virtua.

As a part of Inspira Medical Group Family Medicine Tomlin Station, Brolis provides families across Gloucester and Salem counties with quality primary care as part of a multidisciplinary health team. He will take over covering our football games, reviewing sport physicals, and many other services needed to our health offices.

Lavender said Kingsway is very excited to start this partnership with Cooper through the school district and athletic department. Cooper will provide local services to the student-athletes in the community such as acute injuries, concussion evaluation and management, physical therapy services, orthopedic surgeons, and educational programs for our coaches, students, and parents.

The school will have the ability to call them and get appointments for the athletes much quicker than usual and an orthopedic surgeon will be on the sidelines of football games if needed in an emergency situation.

Cooper also provides a 24/7 Athlete Hotline for physicians to facilitate sports injuries that need immediate attention. School athletes and families will have the ability to continue using their own physicians, this is an additional service being offered to the school’s athletes.
