PEOPLE IN TRANSITION: OCTOBER WORKSHOPS

gcc rowan webDEPTFORD TWP. — The Center for People in Transition at Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) hosts a number of empowerment, legal and financial workshops during the month of October.

Unless otherwise noted, all workshops are free and open to the public. Registration is mandatory. You must be at least 18 years or older to register. Call 856-415-2222 or email peopleintransition@rcgc.edu to register.

“The NEW New Beginnings” — Join Deborah Makos-Trionfo for eight evenings designed to kick-start your New Beginning. For those who have suffered a loss through death, separation or betrayal, the pain is real. The pain is real if it comes from job loss, diminished health, a changed lifestyle, eroded confidence or low self-esteem. Whatever your current reality, know that you have the power to change it. You can choose a happier experience, not just for tomorrow, but for every moment of your life. This workshop will be held on Mondays AND Thursdays, Oct. 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24 and 27 from 7 – 9:30 p.m.

“Basic Budgeting 102: Creation of Your Personal Budget” — Nancy Howard, Accounting and Human Resource Management Professional, takes Basic Budgeting 101 students to the next level, guiding them through the process of creating a personal budget. Bring all of your financial information that you now know you need and we will help you organize it. You will leave this workshop with a budget that reflects your own current income and expenses. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 6 – 8 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and People in Transition.

“Advanced Care Planning” — Join Anna Miller, Community Liaison at Vitas Healthcare, to learn how to support a family member or friend who is coping with a serious illness, deterioration of quality of life and frequent trips to the hospital or emergency room. Vitas Healthcare provides care for adult and pediatric patients with a wide range of life-limiting illness. They are aware of the challenges involved in being a caretaker and can help provide you with solutions. The workshop will be held on Friday, Oct. 14 from 12 – 1:30 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by People in Transition and the Heart of Gloucester County.

“Beyond Emotions – Financial Strategies for Divorcees” — Financial Advisor Monique Castillo will provide guidance for protecting your interests in every stage of divorce. When dealing with the emotional turmoil of divorce, staying focused on protecting your financial interests is imperative. Discussion will also include understanding your new financial situation, important considerations you may need to address and next steps to take control of your financial life. An actionable checklist will be given to all attendees to help you stay on task and ensure the best possible outcome. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

“How to Create a Budget in Excel” — Lauri Kuder, Microsoft Office Master, will guide you through the process of constructing your budget in Excel. By making a personal budget in Excel you can easily keep track of your yearly or monthly expenses and income. Excel also allows for the customization of your budget based on your particular needs and provides the ability to formulate quick and efficient mathematical equations for summarizing your budget. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 6 – 9 p.m. This workshop is sponsored by Heart of South Jersey and People in Transition.

“Find Your Inner GPS: Know and Living Your Values” — Join Sharon Roth-Lichtenfeld, Certified Professional Life Coach, to learn how to get your inner GPS back on track. After experiencing a divorce or the death of a loved one, your values can get shaken up and rearranged. Learn how to help yourself by clarifying your values so they can guide you through your new and different life. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 7 – 9 p.m.

Rowan College at Gloucester County’s 250-acre campus is located on Tanyard Road in Deptford, just off Exit 56 off of Route 55.
