Local Fencer Recognized as One of USA Fencing’s Top 16

WOOLWICH TWP. — Jane Rode Eyre, USA Fencing’s most decorated veteran fencer in history cruised to her fourth consecutive women’s 60-69 saber title at the Veteran World Championships held in Stralsund, Germany this past October.

This recent achievement gives Eyre six individual Gold and overall 12 World Championship medals in her career. She has also captured over 40 National Gold medals.

She is coached by Maitre Wang Yung who coaches in Woolwich Township.

Eyre grew up in Woolwich Township and graduated from Kingsway Regional in 1972. She

started fencing in 1997 when her son went to college.

She is an illustrator and published author. Jane fences and coaches at Infinity Fencing Alliance in Woolwich Township which trains students of all ages in the Olympic sport of sabre fencing.
