The New Jersey Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club (NJBSMC) will be returning to Swedesboro on Saturday, June 22, to again honor Swedesboro native Brigadier General Louis Henry Carpenter, commander of the 10th Cavalry, informally known as the “Buffalo Soldiers”. The wreath laying ceremony will be held approximately at 10:30 am at the New Trinity cemetery on Church Street.
Carpenter was awarded the United States Medal of Honor for his actions in the western campaigns following the Civil War. The NJBSMC will be in the area as part of their Annual Children’s Ride for Life charity event. The Club balances a passion for the sport of motorcycling with a mission to share and promote the rich history of African Americans in our country’s history.
