FREE GED/HSE Preparation and Testing – Tuesdays, July 9, 16, 23, & 30 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays, July 10, 17, & 24, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The classes are for High School Equivalency preparation and testing. 50 Top Interview Questions & Applications – Wednesday, July 10 – 4- 5:30 p.m. Meet with an expert and learn the 50 most asked interview questions and receive guidance on the best way to answer. Also receive assistance filling out a job application.

Dress for Success & Interview Etiquette – Wednesday, July 17 – 4-5:30 p.m. Learn from an expert what to wear on a job interview. Also receive interview etiquette tips and suggestions.

Interview Practice – Wednesday, July 24 – 4-5:30 p.m. Practice interview questions with an expert in the field. A great way to be prepared for your next interview.

Tween/Teens:

Learn about the sun! – Tuesday, July 16 – 12:30 p.m. Mr. Frank, an astronomy enthusiast, will share cool facts about the sun and then students will be able to look at the sun through a special telescope with yellow and red light filters to find some of the things he discussed. Scavenger Hunt – Wednesday, July 17 – 2 p.m. Can your team be first to find all the clues? Come join us – have fun, friendly competition, and see who can figure out all the clues first! Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

Learn About Comets – Monday, July 22 – 6:30 p.m. Best suited for ages 9-17. Learn about comets and then help make one. Space is limited. Be sure to register. Bernie from the West Jersey Astronomical Society will be our presenter. Students must be registered due to space limitations. Register at www.gcls.org.

Teen Writers’ Club – Join us again in the fall – First club will be Monday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. The Writer’s club will be on the second Mondays of each month. The time will be devoted to writing. You can work on your own writing or pull ideas from our binder. Your writings may be published in our Teen Express Literary Magazine.

T-shirt painting – Tuesday, July 23 – 3 p.m. Design and paint your own space-themed t-shirt (planets, aliens, maybe the moon!) with glow-in-the dark paint.  T-shirts and paints will be supplied. Space is limited. Must be registered at www.gcls.org.

Teen/Tween Gaming – Join us on Thursday, July 25 – 6:30-8 p.m. Play Xbox, Wii, DS’s, and traditional board and card games. Bring a friend and have a great time!

Teen Advisory Board – We welcome teens to join our Teen Advisory Board. Teen Board members will learn library skills, help plan teen activities, contribute to our quarterly teen newsletter and/or work with children by becoming a Literacy Buddy. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.  

Literacy Buddies – The literacy buddy program will be ending in June and will resume in the fall. We are always looking for teens interested in becoming a Literacy Buddy. The program entails working one-on-one with a child who needs help with reading, math, homework, or learning English, for one hour a week. Traditionally we have kept sessions to Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Most take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Call 856-467-0111 for more information or stop in and fill out a volunteer form.

Tween Book Club – Join us for the Tween Book Club. We will be reading a few summer selections but will not meet again until the fall. Our first meeting will be Saturday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

Children:

2019 Summer Reading – “A Universe of Stories”  Registration is still open. The program runs Saturdays through Aug. 3. This program is for all ages. Participate by reading, filling out weekly logs and getting prizes and/or check www.gcls.org and register for as many fantastic programs as you want to attend.  

Center for Aquatic Sciences – Sea Star Gazing – Thursday, July 11 – 7 p.m. Best suited for ages 6-12. Join us for this educational, entertaining, and fun program. Children will see some amazing animals and touch a sea star. Space is very limited. You must register at www.gcls.org.

FURever as Friends –   Monday, July 15, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Visit with our therapy animals, read to them, share a picture book, brush their coat, and/or give them a treat. Some of our animals even do tricks. Don’t miss this month’s visits as there is only one session in July and none for the month of August. Registration is not required. Waivers to visit our animals are available at the front desk. All ages welcome.

Space Carnival – Thursday, July 18, 2 p.m. Join us for fun space-related activities. Your child will move from activity-to-activity, finishing with a group activity, including a piñata. Children must be registered.

Family Board Games – Friday, July 19, 2 p.m. Bring your family and/or bring a friend – enjoy an afternoon of playing your favorite board games. Bring your own games or play one of ours. Please register.

Paint Star Jars – Monday, July 29, 7 p.m. Using glow-in-the-dark paint – children will each make their own unique star jars. Children must be registered.

Family Movie Night – Tuesday, July 30, 6:30 p.m. – Movie TBA. Bring a snack and bring a friend. We will provide popcorn and lemonade. Be sure to register.

Literacy Buddies – Does your child need help with homework, reading or learning English – call us at 856-467-0111 and we will try to match your child with a Teen Volunteer. This program will be finishing up mid-June and resume again in the fall. Literacy buddies traditionally takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 4-5 p.m. Let us know which day is best for you.

Toddlers & Babies:

Tuesday Storytime (Laugh n’ Learn) – Storytime is a fun time. Listen to stories, sing songs, and make a craft. We meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. July’s storytime dates are July 9, 16, 23, & 30. Storytime is best suited for ages 2-½ to 5. Registration is required.

Wednesday Storytime (Toddler Tales) – Join in the fun Wednesday morning for stories, dancing and crafts.  Wednesday storytime is at 10:30 a.m. Dates are July 10, 17, 24, & 31 – Library meeting room. Storytime is best suited for ages 2-½ to 5. Registration required.

Baby Fun Time – Saturday, July 13, 10:30 a.m. Join us once-a-month on a Saturday for Baby Fun Time. Your child will engage in fingerplays and songs, board books, and fun activities geared for ages infant to 2-1/2 years of age. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org  or call 856-467-0111.

Baby Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Bring your baby to a fun time of music – familiar songs, activities and fingerplays.  Baby Time is held on Thursday, July 18, 10:30 a.m. Space is limited, registration is required.  

Toddler Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Your toddler will enjoy a fun time marching, playing instruments, learning fingerplays, and singing familiar songs. This month’s dates are Thursdays, July 11 & 25. Registration is required as space is limited.
