Local Teen Recognized For Volunteer Efforts At Logan Library

LOGAN TWP. – A local teenager, Arjuna Mopal, has been putting a lot of time in at the Logan Library and it is very appreciated.

According to Heather Marquette, Youth Services Coordinator at the Logan Branch Library of the Gloucester County Library System, Mopal has been volunteering for the past year, putting in over 100 hours. He began by organizing the summer reading program, which has over 500 registrants, and helping with other work around the library.

Marquette said the Mopal expressed an interest in starting a guitar club. To increase participation, Mopal began offering free guitar lessons. Because of its popularity, this evolved into a 10-week summer project offering free lessons, following by a concert. The guitarists performed as a group, and then had their own solo.

“Everyone at the concert remarked how incredible it was so see how much the children had grown from their first session,” Marquette stated. “Arjuna coordinated the entire concert and did a remarkable job emceeing the event along with accompanying the players.”

“We are extremely fortunate to have Arjuna as a volunteer and a mentor to the children in our community,” Marquette added.

Mopol is a junior at Salesianum School in Delaware and a member of Boy Scout Troop 13.
