Big win in tennis for Kingsway

On Oct. 10 and 11, Kingsway Regional High School’s 1st Varsity Girls Doubles Team defeated rival GCIT to grab third place in Gloucester County’s Annual Open Girls Tennis Tournament. Representing Kingsway’s Varsity team in the finals were Senior Maddy Phun (left) and Junior Rebecca Ashton Sirko. Led by Head Coach Drew Laverty and Assistant Coach Nick Fiocco, the Girls Doubles team won 6-3, 6-4. Even though Kingsway’s Athletic Season was shortened due to the Pandemic, the Gloucester County Tournament was able to proceed as the only tournament for the 2020 Season through the hard work of the organizers. The entire Kingsway Girl’s Varsity Tennis Team was very excited to participate. This was the first year that Phun and Sirko were doubles partners.
