Let’s Get Ready to Shred! East Greenwich Shred Event, April 10th

MICKLETON — The East Greenwich Twp. Environmental Commission and Green Team in cooperation with the Gloucester County Board of Chosen Freeholders, Robert M. Damminger, Freeholder Director, are sponsoring an open shredding event on Saturday, April 10 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Municipal Building, 159 Democrat Road in Mickleton.

Reduce clutter and clean out and purge your personal records. Protect yourself from identity theft while being green.

What to toss: bills, once payment has been cleared your account; bank and credit card statements once they are reconciled. With online banking these statements are available on the institution’s website. Investment statements if you can easily get a copy from your broker or advisor.

What to keep: Tax returns and all documentation for seven years; all documentation of real estate purchases as well as documentation of improvements to the property for as long as you own the property.

Bring your bags and boxes of paper to be shredded. An experienced operator form DocuVault will move the disposal bins to a highly secure, mobile shredding unit where your confidential material will be destroyed as you watch.

One hundred percent of the shredded paper is recycled. Only paper from residents will be accepted. No businesses. Please do not bring plastic bags or metal including 3-ring binders and binder clips. Staples and paper clips are acceptable.

The township will also accept electronics for recycling but no TVs larger than 60 inch. If you remove hard drives from computers, they may be able to provide onsite destruction depending on DocuVault’s truck.

Because of the current situation with COVID-19 residents are asked to follow these rules: Keep windows and doors closed at all times. Stay in your vehicle at all times. Place materials in the truck on your car, the rear of your SUV or truck bed. Workers will remove items from your vehicle. They will not enter the interior of your vehicle.

    1. The newspaper hasn’t received any information on East Greenwich 2022 shred events yet, but I’m sure there will be some scheduled.
