Easter Sock Bunnies:  Wednesday, April 5 at 2:00 pm & 6:15 pm,Margaret Dombrosky Swedesboro Public Library.Come and join the fun in making sock bunnies for Easter. Space and supplies are limited. Please register or call 856-467-0111. 

Spring Yoga Series:  Mondays, April 3, 10 & 17 at 6:00 pm, Margaret Dombrosky Swedesboro Public Library.  Join our spring yoga series with Ms. Sheetal. Please bring a yoga mat or a towel and bottled water.  Space is limited. Please register or call 856-467-0111.

Needle Arts: Wednesdays, April 12 & 26 at 6:30 pm, Margaret Dombrosky Swedesboro Public Library. Crochet, knit, or sew your own project or select one of ours. All levels welcome. Please register or call 856-467-0111. 

Cultural Food and Stories: Tuesday, April 18 at 7:00 pm. Bring a food, snack, or drink that is traditional to your family or culture and share the story behind it. Be aware of possible allergens. Poetry Reading: Monday, April 24 at 6:00 pm, Margaret Dombrosky Swedesboro Public Library. Celebrate National Poetry Month with a reading by poet BJ Ward.  BJ Ward is a nationally recognized poet, essayist and educator. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.

Youth Programs

April’s Challenges:

  • Sticker Mosaic: All month during regular hours of operation, stop by the Margaret Dombrosky Swedesboro Public Library and work on our sticker mosaic.
  • National Library Week Sculpture Contest: Represent something from your favorite book in dry clay and submit it to our National Library Week contest. Participants can pick up clay packets at the library beginning April 1. Ages 4+ can participate. Deadline for submissions is April 22. Entries will be judged by library staff.  Winners will be notified by May 8. Stop by the library for additional contest details. 

Story Time: Tuesdays,April 4, 11, 18, & 25 at 10:30 am, Margaret Dombrosky Swedesboro Public Library. Join us for a fun time of stories, songs, and crafts. Ages 2-5. Each adult and child must be registered. Please register for only one session per week. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.

Adult Programs: 

Best Sellers Book Club: Wednesday, April 5th at 7:00pm. A discussion of the book “Run, Rose, Run” by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. Attendance is in-person or virtually.  

Socrates Café: Thursdays, April 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th at 10:30am. Join us as we pose questions and exchange our thoughts on subjects selected by the group. No formal education in philosophy is needed, just a questioning mind. Attendance is in-person or virtually.  

Board and Card Games: Thursdays, 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th at 1:00pm. Have a fun time playing board games. A variety of games are played each week.  

Knit & Crochet Club: Thursdays, 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th at 1:00pm. Beginners are always welcome and provided with instruction along with the supplies needed to get started. Bring something you are working on or something you would like to discuss.

Quilting & Sewing Club: Tuesdays, April 11th and 25th at 1:00pm. Learn to quilt or sew! Beginners and experienced quilters are welcome, and experienced quilters are free to bring their project and quilt with some new friends.

Ceramic Bowl Painting and Grits Recipe: Saturday, April 8th at 11:00am. Paint a ceramic bowl and take it home with a recipe for Sweet Potato Grits. Bowls will be glazed, fired, and returned to the library for pickup. A Longwood Gardens Community Read program. Registration required.  

History Book Club: Monday, April 10th at 7:00pm. The History Book Club will be held the 2nd Monday of each month at 7pm. Please stop by the circulation desk for this month’s selection.

Book Spine Bookmarks: Tuesday, April 11th at 7:00pm. Make the perfect bookmark using a spine from a book beyond repair. Registration required.

Scrapbooking & Crafting: Wednesday, April 12th at 7:00pm. Instructor Sandi will show you the basics of scrapbooking and crafting. Please bring photos and embellishments; paper will be provided. Limit of 10 participants. Please register.

Learn to Play Canasta!: Tuesday, April 18th at 1:00pm. Games are fun, entertaining, and engaging! Learn to play the game Canasta with instructor Bernadette Hennessy May of Game Friendzy. 3 hours of Canasta instruction! Please register as space is limited.  

Make and Take Buttermilk Cornbread Muffins: Tuesday, April 18, 7 p.m. Make and take the dry ingredients for the recipe Buttermilk Cornbread Muffins. A Longwood Gardens Community Read program. Registration required.

Functional Food for Life – Tea: Tuesday, April 25, 6:30 p.m. Join nutritionists from Rutgers Cooperative Extension as we explore the history, culture and health benefits of tea, followed by a cup of Tea. A Longwood Gardens Community Read program. Please register.

Crafting with Sandi: Wednesday, April 26, 7 p,m. Sandi will guide you through a unique craft! Always something new and interesting to make. Please register, as supplies are usually limited.

Baby Storytimes: Wednesdays, April  12, 19, and 26, 10:15 a.m. Our littlest patrons can join us for songs, stories, and bubbles! Ages 0 to 2. Please register.

Movement Storytime: Wednesdays, April 12, 19, and 26, 11 a.m. Please bring a yoga mat or a towel and join us for stories that will incorporate yoga poses and movement as we read. Ages 2 to 5. Please register.

Friday Storytimes with Miss Katelyn: Fridays, April 7, 14, and 21, 10:30 a,m. Join us for songs, stories, and a craft. Ages 2 to 5. Please register.  

FURever As Friends Reading Program: Tuesdays, April 18, 6:30 p.m. A group of volunteers bring their specially trained therapy dogs to the library for children to read. All ages. Registration and one-time permission slip required.  

Family Lego Night: Thursday, April 6, 6:30 p.m. Make incredible creations with family and friends and conquer our brick-building challenges! All ages. Please register.

Epic Comic Club: Monday, April 6, 4 p.m. Join the Epic Comic Club! We will make comics each month while learning about story development. Ages 6 to 12. Please register.

No Cook Cooking – Banana Pudding: Thursday, April 13, 4 p.m. We will be making a traditional banana pudding. Ingredients include bananas, cream cheese, milk, whipped cream, Nilla Wafers, and vanilla pudding. Ages 9-12. Registration required.  

Homeschool Steam Club: Monday, April 17, 2 p.m. Fun experiments, crafts, and activities exploring STEAM concepts. Ages 6 to 8. Please register.  

Steam Club: Thursday, April 20, 4 p.m. Join us for an afternoon of experiments and crafts exploring STEAM concepts. Ages 6 to 8. Please register.  

Food Storytime: Friday, April 28, 10:30 a.m. In the special Storytime, we will explore where our food comes from, make our own butter, and enjoy a snack. Ingredients include bread, heavy cream, salt, and apples. This is a Longwood Gardens Community Read Event. Please register.
