WOOLWICH TWP. — The 8th annual Project Thanksgiving is scheduled for Saturday Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to support the Food Bank of South Jersey in Gloucester County, and Salvation Army in Cumberland County.
Frozen turkeys, cash and checks (payable to either Food Bank of SJ or Salvation Army) will be collected by a team of dedicated, hard-working volunteers throughout the day at these locations: Franklin Bank in Woolwich Township and Franklinville, and the Shop Rites in Mullica Hill, Sewell, Bridgeton, Millville and Vineland.
Project Thanksgiving started eight years ago in Cumberland County when two friends decided to hold a turkey drive. All donations were given to the Salvation Army.
Two years later, they expanded their efforts into Gloucester County in support of the Food Bank of South Jersey. The annual turkey drive has been hugely successful in Cumberland County. Now, the co-founders are striving to replicate that same success in Gloucester County.
Many families are still feeling the effects of a stagnant economy. They could use as much support as possible.
Franklin Bank has graciously agreed to support the efforts and have generously donated $500, and will allow their Woolwich Township and Franklinville locations to be drop-off sites.
