parks and rec.inddSWEDESBORO — The SPRING fun continues with Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks and Recreation Committee.

The 4th Annual Health, Wellness and Safety Fair (with Summer Camp Connection) will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Kingsway Regional High School. This year, watch for Swedesboro and Woolwich Township wide activities relating to earth, wellness, and health food choices.

There will be a Healthy Recipe Contest so bring your recipe and five samples to the fair. Judging will be at 3 p.m. Also, bring your bikes and helmets for a Bike Rodeo hosted by the Woolwich Township Police.

Participants can learn how to save lives with demonstrations of defibrillators and CPR. Gloucester County EMS will review first aid care. Swedesboro Woolwich Fire Company will have a demonstration to see what it feels like inside a smoke-filled room and what to do to save your life.

Parents are invited to visit the cafeteria to learn about summer camps available in our area. Representatives from at least a dozen summer camps will be there to provide information. Interested vendors (pertaining to any aspect of human, animal or environmental health, wellness or safety) or Camp Connection Vendors – should obtain an application at Parks and Recration Page of www.woolwichtwp.org.

There will be a new 2017 family contest available: Like AND Comment on the Health Fair Event at our Swedesboro-Woolwich Parks and Recreation Facebook page! Winners will be chosen to receive prizes such as Locke Avenue wristbands. Complete the Family Fun Contest at our event, enter for a chance to win other fabulous prizes.

FUN DAY

Locke Avenue Fun Day will be held Saturday, May 6 with an inclement weather date of Sunday, May 7. Unlimited ride wristbands are on sale now for $25 (plus processing fee) at https://swfunday2017.ticketleap.com/. The presale will end on May 5. A separate ticket booth will be available to pick up your wrist bands when you arrive at Fun Day.

Unlimited ride wristbands will also be sold at Fun Day for $30.

The event promises to offer entertainment for the entire family starting at 1 p.m. and culminating in a spectacular fireworks display at 9 p.m.

Attention Harry Potter fans. Are you interested in hosting a Harry Potter Festival right in our own town?

Plans will be underway for a community-wide event Oct. 21 hosted jointly by the SW Parks and Recreation Committee and the Swedesboro Economic Development Committee.

Are you creative? Do you have ideas to share? Please come to the first Kick-Off Sub-Committee Meeting on Wednesday, April 19 at 6 p.m. in the Swedesboro Borough Hall.
