WOOLWICH TWP. — The United Methodist Church has appointed Rev. Beth Caulfield as the Campus Pastor of Sharptown North United Methodist Church in Woolwich Township and as Associate Pastor at Sharptown UMC in Pilesgrove.

She follows Rev. Michael Bill in her role who has been reappointed to St. John’s UMC of Turnersville. She will be serving under the leadership of Senior Pastor Doug Smith of Sharptown.

Pastor Beth and her family will be living in Woolwich Township, having moved from Clinton Township in Hunterdon County. Her husband, Dr. Tom Caulfield, works as an Intellectual Property Engineer for General Electric in Trevose, PA. They have been married for 26 years and have three children, TJ (age 20), Amber (18) and Camille (7). While TJ and Amber will head back to college this fall, Camille will be a second grader in the Swedesboro-Woolwich School District.

Pastor Beth most recently served for three years on Bishop John Schol’s staff of the United Methodist Church of Greater New Jersey as the Director of Small Group Ministries and Spiritual Visioning in Neptune. In that capacity she led the more than 560 churches in the Conference to increase participation in small groups from 42 percent to 84 percent over the past three years and has led over 100 churches to develop and launch spiritually-driven strategic action plans.

Her previous ministry experience also included pastoring at the local church level and directing ministries internationally, interdenominationally, and in prisons. She holds a B.A. in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Divinity from Drew Theological School.

Before entering ordained ministry Rev. Caulfield spent over  10 years working in Human Resources for Fortune 100 companies including Lockheed Martin, Honeywell and International Paper.

Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ and encouraging reliance on the Holy Spirit for navigating life are passions for Caulfield. She enjoys leading the Church in these endeavors both from the pulpit and in serving the community at large.

God has been a powerful presence in her own life, bringing joy and sustaining her through challenging times and she enjoys encouraging others to make such connection. One of her favorite scriptures, Luke 1:37 “For nothing is impossible with God,” reflects her own growing faith in the Lord.

Rev. Beth is originally from Alabama, and Tom from Philadelphia. “Roll Tide” and “Birds” are common phrases in their household.
