MUSUMECI – Mary LaRosa Musumeci, 93 (nee Monaco) of Woolwich Township passed away June 17, 2018 after a hard-working, well lived life.
A life resident of the area, Mary worked on the family farm next to her father, even driving trucks, filled with produce to the Swedesboro Auction. She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and was predeceased by her first husband Phillip LaRosa. She owned and operated the Hilltop Beauty Salon on High Hill Road and was the number one Hairdresser for the former Reymour Funeral Home. After selling her Salon she met and married her second husband, the late Peter Musumeci Sr. and took on the roll as sales rep. for the former Spinosi’s in Woodstown. People would go there for her advice on fashion and to just chat in general. She made everyone feel relaxed and comfortable talking to her. Mary was a very down to earth classy woman. Hair and outfits always perfect, just a stunning woman and thought nothing of throwing on gloves and helping Pete in the greenhouses. She always looked forward to and enjoyed the vacation she took every year with her sisters down to Sea Isle City.
Mary is survived by her children, Carmen and Charlene LaRosa and Peter and Linda Musumeci, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and her sister Joanne Catalano. She was predeceased by her siblings, Josephine Finocchiaro and Salvatore Monaco.

GRUBER — Wallace C. Gruber age 96 years of Mickleton went home to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on Monday, June 25, 2018.
Mr. Gruber was born in Danville, Virginia and was a 1939 graduate of Paulsboro High School. He was a veteran serving in the United States Navy during World War II as a radioman on a destroyer. Mr. Gruber worked as an instrument mechanic for Mobil Oil Company in Paulsboro and retired after 42 years of service. In preparation for his retirement he graduated from Glassboro State College with an associate’s degree. He was a 39 year member of Zion Community Methodist Church, Clarksboro.
Mr. Gruber was a dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Annamae Gruber (nee Stover) of Mickleton; his sons, Wayne and Jeanette Gruber of Quakertown, PA, Thomas and Sylvia Gruber of West Deptford; his grandchildren, Stephen and Karen Gruber, Jody and Joseph Davis, Kathryn Gruber, Lauren Gruber and his great-grandchildren, Andrew, Caroline, Samantha and Jake. Mr. Gruber was predeceased by his grandson, Thomas Gruber.

DUNN — Ronald G. Dunn Sr., age 60, of Mullica Hill passed away suddenly on Friday, June 29, 2018.
Ron devoted his time and expertise as Caretaker and Board Member of the Gloucester County 4H Fairgrounds. Saying Ron was handyman or general contractor would not do his life justice. Ron’s creativity, ingenuity, dedication and talent was only overshadowed by his great big heart and willingness to help everyone.
He was an avid motorcyclist and was an Original Founding Member of the Saints & Sinners Motorcycle Club as well as a Member and Range Officer at USANA Marksmanship Training Center. His love for his Country, his family and friends always shone brightly and proudly and he will be dearly missed by all.
Most of all Ron deeply loved and is loved by his family. He is survived by his wife Judith A. McDonald-Dunn (Nardella), his children Ronald G Dunn Jr., Lisa Marie Dunn (Josh McHugh), Frank X. McDonald, Megan McDonald (Dom Pandorf), Lindsay Haynes (Paul), 2 grandchildren Chloe Lorraine McHugh & Eli Haynes, his mother Joan Chapman, sisters Leslie McGee (Richard) Robin Garretson (Travis), father-in-law Richard Nardella, sister-in-law Dana and her husband John Durante, loving nephew of George Fey (Vicki), and many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Michael McDonald and mother-in-law Judith Nardella.

SARBELLO — Joseph C. Sarbello Jr. Fortunately for Joe not all first dates count. He was an hour late and Donna left not knowing he had a flat tire. Their second date went much better.
He had the right genes passed down from a farming family complete with a green thumb and the ability to repair anything mechanical. This came in handy when Joe joined Salem County Radio Control Club. He built planes. Crashed planes then built them again. The only thing Joe couldn’t fix was stupid — not even with duct tape.
As a Woolwich volunteer fireman Joe took EMT classes at Woodstown High. Not only did he get certified he found a wife of 35 years, Donna Herscher.
He is survived by three children: Charlotte Campbell (Brian), Tiffany Zacharko (Mark), Joseph 3rd (Christina), his mother Nancy Sarbello-Leonard, a sister Terry Fulmer, five grandchildren and best friend Stan Sochuck. Family and friends celebrated 56 kindhearted years at Daley Life Celebration, Swedesboro.

OWEN — Mary D. Owen, of Clarksboro, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was 100. She was born in Shenandoah, PA; the daughter of the late James and Mary (nee Schmidt) Delowery. She was married to Norman Owen who predeceased her in 2006.
Mary worked for RCA in Cherry Hill and Camden. When her husband retired, they joined a travel group and traveled to all 50 states. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and was a good conversationalist.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret Masi of Plymouth, CT; 15 nieces and nephews; 23 great nieces and nephews; and 16 great-great nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations can be made in Mary’s name to the Incarnation Church. Arrangements are under the direction of McBride-Foley Funeral Home, Paulsboro.

ZAPPALA — Harry Zappala Harry ‘Big Harry’ Zappala, 83, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, July 15, 2018. Harry was born in New Jersey to the late Alfio and Mary (LaRosa) Zappala. His marriage in 1964 to Charlotte A. Surratt was held in Swedesboro at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She still survives.
Harry retired from his family business, Buddy’s Tavern, in 2000. Harry was also a retired Captain in the NJ Army Reserves, a Swedesboro reserve police officer, and served on the Swedesboro Council. He enjoyed working side by side with his brother, Russell, at Buddy’s and was well-known for his roast beef recipe, as well as dirtying every pot in the bar just to boil water! He enjoyed going clamming and crabbing with his loving sister, Pauline, in beautiful Stone Harbor. His garden was impressive in addition to his appetite for a good meal with his friends from the Racoon Club. He spent as much time as he could spare traveling to the Cayman Islands, Italy, and other fun destinations.
Harry spent the last five years with his son, daughter in law, and grandson in West Lafayette, IN. He enjoyed reading the newspaper, an occasional cigar on the deck with ‘Little Harry’ and watching Giovonni excel in school and sports.
He is survived not only by his loving wife Charlotte, but also his son, Harry A. (wife, Laura) Zappala of West Lafayette, IN; his daughter, Susan C. Zappala of NJ; his sister, Pauline (husband, Robert) McClure of Stone Harbor, NJ, and his brother, Russell C. (wife, Sheryl) Zappala of Stone Harbor, NJ. His two grandsons adored him as much as he loved them; Giovonni A. Zappala of West Lafayette and Zachary J. Pearce of NJ. His is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
