Adults:

FREE GED/HSE Preparation and Testing – Thursdays, Nov. 8, 15, & 29 – 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. These classes are for High School Equivalency preparation and testing. Classes will also be available at other GCLS library branch locations on different dates and times. Please check our online calendar for details.

Needle Arts: Crochet, Knit and Sewing – Tuesday, Nov. 136:30 p.m. Bring your crochet, knitting or sewing projects to the library and have fun with us! You can also get help with your own project. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

Vintage Garland Class Wednesday, Nov. 14 – 6:30 p.m. Join the Gloucester County Certified Gardeners and learn how to make a vintage garland for your holiday decorating. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

Yoga for Everyone – Fridays, Nov. 16 & 30 – 10:30 a.m. Learn basic yoga positions, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques. Please bring your own mat or towel and a water to drink. Space is limited, be sure to register.

Book Discussion – A Mouse Divided – Thursday, Nov. 1 – 6:30 p.m. Author Jeff Ryan will discuss his new book A Mouse Divided: How Ub Iwerks Became Forgotten, and Walt Disney Became Uncle Walt. Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks friendship is a story of betrayal, love, power, money and humor. Discover the men behind the mouse and the mystery behind the magic. Join us for an all-ages presentation with behind the scenes pictures and fascinating trivia about who Walt Disney really was.  This is sure to be an interesting and informative program. Adult Book ClubTuesday, Nov. 27 – 7 p.m. Join the Swedesboro Library Adult Book Club! November’s selection will be Keep Her Safe by Sophie Hannah. For more information call 856-467-0111 or register at www.gcls.org.

Tween/Teens:

Tween Book Club – Saturday, Nov. 3 – 11 a.m. November’s selection will be Found by Margaret Haddix. Participants must be registered.

Teen Writers’ Club – There will be no Writer’s Club in November.  Our next one will meet Dec. 10 – 7 p.m.

Teen/Tween Gaming – Join us on Thursday, Nov. 15 – 6:30-8 p.m. Play Xbox, Wii, DS’s, and traditional board and card games. Bring a friend and have a great time!

 

Service Opportunity – Make a Fleece Blanket – Monday, Nov. 19 – 7 p.m. Learn how to make a fleece blanket and do something to help others. The blankets will be given to a child at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.  Please register at www.gcls.org.

Anime Club – Monday, Nov. 26 – 5 p.m. Anime meets on the fourth Mondays at 5 p.m. Feel free to come dressed in costume. You can also bring Pokemon cards or Yu Gi Oh cards to play, watch an Anime movie/show and/or draw Manga characters.

Teen Advisory Board – We welcome teens to join our Teen Advisory Board. Teen Board members will learn library skills, help plan teen activities, contribute to our quarterly teen newsletter and/or work with children by becoming a Literacy Buddy. Call 856-467-0111 for more information.

Literacy Buddies – We are looking for teens interested in becoming a Literacy Buddy. Teens can work one-on-one with a child who needs help with reading, math, homework, or learning English. Commitment is one hour a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Call 856-467-0111 for more information or stop in and fill out a volunteer form.

Children:

FURever as Friends –   Mondays, Nov. 5 & 19 6:30-8 p.m. Visit with our therapy animals, read to them, share a picture book, brush their coat, and/or give them a treat. Some of our animals even do tricks! Registration is not required. Permission slips to visit our animals are available at the front desk.

Swedesboro Christmas Parade – Saturday, Nov. 24 – 1 p.m. Join your community and enjoy celebrating the holidays with the Swedesboro annual Christmas parade. Our FURever as Friends therapy animals will be marching in the parade with some of our library patrons.

Literacy Buddies – Does your child need help with homework, reading or learning English – call us at 856-467-0111 and we will try to match your child with a Teen Volunteer. Literacy buddies will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 4 -5 p.m. Let us know which day is best for you.

Toddlers & Babies:

Tumblin’ Tots – There will be two classes for Tumblin’ Tots. One will be for ages 2-3 – Friday, Nov. 9 – 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. The other will be for ages 4-5 – Friday, Nov. 9 – 11:15 a.m. – 12 p.m. Join us for a variety of fun, very active activities.  Each child must be registered. This program will take place across the street at the Bethesda Chapel.

Tuesday Storytime (Laugh n’ Learn) – Storytime is a fun time! Listen to stories, sing songs, and make a craft! We meet on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. November storytime dates are Nov. 6, 13, and 20. Mother Goose will be visiting on Nov. 27 in lieu of our normal storytime. Storytime is best suited for children ages 2-1/2 to 5 years of age. Registration required.

Wednesday Storytime (Toddler Tales) – Join in the fun Wednesday morning for stories, dancing and crafts.  Wednesday storytime is at 10:30 a.m. Dates for November are Nov. 7, 14, 21, & 28 – Library meeting room. Registration required.

NEW – Saturday Storytime (Toddler Tales) – The Swedesboro Library will now provide a storytime once a month on Saturdays. Our first one will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10 – 10:30 a.m. Enjoy the same fun time of stories, dancing, and crafts. Registration required.

Baby Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Bring your baby to a fun time of music – familiar songs, activities and fingerplays.  Baby Time is held on Thursdays, Nov. 1 & 15 – 10:30 a.m. Space is limited, registration is required.

Toddler Music Time – “Sing, Dance, and Play” – Your toddler will enjoy a fun time marching, playing instruments, learning fingerplays, and singing familiar songs.  This month’s date is Thursday, Nov. 8. Registration is required as space is limited.

NEW – Baby Fun Time – Saturday, Nov. 17 – 10:30 a.m. Join us once-a-month on a Saturday for Baby Fun Time. Your child will engage in fingerplays and songs, board books, and fun activities geared for ages infant to 2-1/2 years of age. Be sure to register at www.gcls.org or call 856-467-0111.

Mother Goose – Tuesday, Nov. 27 – 10:30 a.m. Bethesda Social Hall. Don’t miss the fabulous, entertaining, and educational Mother Goose!  Be sure to register at www.gcls.org.

The Gloucester County Libraries will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12 for Veterans Day and Thursday, Nov. 22 for Thanksgiving Day.
