March 1, 2019 – March 29, 2019

March 1: Police were dispatched to Center Square Road in the area of Beckett Road for a report of a disabled motor vehicle in the roadway. Upon their arrival, officers discovered that the incident was actually a one vehicle crash resulting in disabling damage to the car. Further investigation resulted in the driver, a 27 year old Logan Township man, being arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to headquarters for processing. He complied and provided breath samples which were analyzed and the driver was found to have a BAC of 0.15%. He was served several summonses and released to a family member in accordance with John’s Law with a date to appear in Logan Township Municipal Court.

March 5: Incident to a motor vehicle stop on Center Square Road, the driver, a 33 year old Woolwich woman, was taken into custody on an active warrant from Greenwich Township in the amount of $1,500. She was processed, photographed and after posting partial bail of $150, was released on her own recognizance with a new court date.

March 5: Police were dispatched to 407 Heron Drive, Taylor Farms, for a report of theft. Upon arrival it was learned that an unknown suspect(s) entered the parking lot and removed the side view mirrors from four of the trucks parked there. The total loss is estimated to be $6,400. No suspects could be identified.

March 6: Incident to a motor vehicle stop on Center Square Road, the driver, a 32 year old Bridgeton woman, was taken into custody on an active warrant from Egg Harbor Township in the amount of $1,000. She was processed, photographed and released on her own recognizance with a new court date.

March 7: Police were dispatched to AMAZON Fulfillment, 2651 Oldmans Creek Road, for a report of a dispute in the parking lot. While enroute, additional information was provided indicating that an unauthorized vehicle had entered the lot. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect vehicle and made contact with the occupants. Further investigation revealed that the driver, a 30 year old Philadelphia man, and his passenger, a 22 year old Clayton man, had become lost while on their way home from a Deptford Township bar. Officers conducted field sobriety tests on the driver and subsequently arrested him for suspicion of DWI. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed and provided the mandatory breath samples which revealed a 0.13% BAC. He was then served several motor vehicle summonses and released pending a Logan Township Municipal Court hearing.

March 9: While on patrol on I-295 southbound, an officer observed a vehicle swerving, leaving its lane of travel and entering onto the left shoulder. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and upon making contact with the driver, a 27 year old Wilmington, DE man, he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. The officer also detected the odor of marijuana coming from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. A subsequent K-9 sniff of the vehicle resulted in a positive indication to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search revealed that the passenger, a 25 year old Wilmington, DE woman, was in possession of suspected marijuana and she was placed under arrest. Field sobriety tests were conducted on the driver and he was arrested for suspicion of DWI. Both individuals were transported to headquarters where they were processed. The female passenger was served a summons for Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court. The driver provided the required breath samples which were analyzed and determined to be 0.12% BAC. He was also released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.

March 9: Incident to a motor vehicle stop on Center Square Road, the driver, a 25 year old Woodlynne man, was taken into custody on multiple active warrants totaling $2,314. He was processed, photographed and released on his own recognizance with new court dates.

March 11: Incident to a motor vehicle stop on I-295, the driver, a 28 year old Pennsauken man, was taken into custody on an NCIC hit out of Camden County, with no bail as well as several municipal court warrants. He was processed, photographed and remanded to the Salem County Jail to await extradition to Camden County.

March 12: Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle complaint on Center Square Road with the caller advising that a vehicle was being operated recklessly, failing to maintain its lane and crossing into oncoming traffic. Officers located the vehicle in the Rite Aid parking lot, 335 Village Center Drive and made contact with the driver, a 34 year old Mantua woman. She appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant. After completing Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, she was arrested for suspicion of DWI. She was transported to headquarters where she was processed and served summonses for DWI, DWI in a School Zone, DWI with a Child in the Car and Reckless Driving. She was released to a family member pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.

March 14: Police were dispatched to Goldfinch Court for a report of a suspicious motor vehicle blocking a mailbox. Upon arrival officers located the vehicle, a 2017 Hyundai, and discovered that it had previously been reported stolen in Camden City. The vehicle was towed from the roadway and eventually returned to its owner.

March 15: With the assistance of an Automated License Plate Reader, officers patrolling through the Acme parking lot, 1619 Center Square Road, were able to locate a stolen motor vehicle. The vehicle, a 2018 Hyundai Sante Fe had been reported stolen in Philadelphia, PA. The vehicle was towed from the parking lot and the owner was notified on how to retrieve it.

March 16: Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation. While speaking to the driver, a 43 year old Chester, PA man, the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle located a bag with suspected cocaine, packaging materials, a scale and a loaded handgun. The driver was arrested and transported to headquarters where he was fingerprinted, photographed and served with a warrant charging him with Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Possession of Prohibited Weapons (hollow nose bullets), Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with the Intent to Distribute and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was then turned over to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department to be transported to the Salem County Jail to await a detention hearing.

March 22: Police were dispatched to Florz, 507 Beckett Road, for a report of a stolen motor vehicle. The investigation revealed that an employee started the company van then went back inside the business to retrieve paperwork. Upon returning to the parking lot a few minutes later, the van was gone. Video surveillance could not provide any identifiers on the suspect. The van was later recovered in Berlin Township after being used during a bank robbery. The van was processed for evidence and ultimately returned to the owner.

March 23: Police stopped a motor vehicle for an equipment violation and immediately upon speaking with the driver the odor of marijuana was detected in the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected marijuana. The driver, a 23 year old Parlin, NJ man, was arrested and transported to headquarters where he was fingerprinted, photographed, served a summons for Possession of Under 50g of Marijuana and released pending a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.

March 25: Incident to a motor vehicle stop for several motor vehicle violations, the officer detected the odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver, a 48 year old Logan Township man, was asked to perform field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI. He was transported to headquarters where he submitted the required breath samples which revealed that his BAC was 0.15%. He was issued several motor vehicle summonses and released to a friend in accordance with John’s Law with a date in Logan Township Municipal Court.
