WASHINGTON – Commander, Navy Reserve Navy Installations Command (NR CNIC) held a change of command ceremony at the Forge Building, CNIC Headquarters, located on the Washington Navy Yard, D.C., Nov. 17.
Capt. Robert S. Mitchell, a native of Woolwich Township, relieved Capt. Moira E. McCarthy, a native of Boston, as NR CNIC commander. The ceremony was presided by Vice Adm. Mary M. Jackson, commander of CNIC, included the presentation of colors by the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard.
Mitchell addressed NR CNIC Headquarters for the first time as the commanding officer. “To the members of Navy Reserve CNIC HQ, I will do my best to provide the leadership and support that you need to fulfill your duties, so that together we can meet our mission requirements to the supported command,” said Mitchell. “At the same time, I am looking forward to learning from you, as this will be my first opportunity to work with some of your communities and areas of specialty. I only ask that you also provide your best effort and for you to leverage all your skills from your Navy and civilian experience.”
