MICKLETON – A message went out from the East Greenwich Township Police Chief Matthew Brenner, alerting East Greenwich residents that there has been an increase in burglaries and thefts from motor vehicles.
He stated that most of these crimes are occurring overnight with unlocked, parked cars being targeted. “These thefts can typically range from a loss of loose change to thousands of dollars in electronics and personal property,” he wrote. “Our officers and detectives are actively and aggressively investigating these recent incidents.”
Brenner said that he encourages everyone to follow the department’s social media pages, as well as the free “Neighbors by Ring” App, which allows the police to provide updates to the community on crime/suspicious incidents.
“I continue to encourage all of our residents to take an extra minute each evening, to make sure your vehicles are locked, secure, and valuables are removed. It really makes the difference.”
