Dragon Seniors of the Month for September & October

SENIORS OF THE MONTH FOR SEPTEMBER

Shelby Dyer

SHELBY DYER, daughter of Thomas and Colleen Dyer of Clarksboro.

School Activities:  Girls Cross Country, Girls Basketball, Softball, Student Council Executive Board, SADD Club, Morgan’s Message, STEM Academy, National Honor Society, Student Ambassadors, and Head Choreographer of Kingsway Live 2022.

Out of School Activities:  Travel Softball for the NJ Prospects, Dance at Mulford Dance Studio, and an Ambassador Girl Scout (total 12 years of scouting).

Honors/Awards:  Student Council Co-Treasurer 2021-2022, Student Council President 2022-2023, Student Council Executive Board since 2019-2020, SADD Club Executive Board 2022-2023, and second team All-Conference Girls Cross Country 2021 and 2020 seasons.

Future Plans: Shelby plans on going to college to either pursue a career in Environmental Science or Pharmaceuticals.  She hopes to make a positive impact on the world with her contributions after graduation.

Ivor Mills

IVOR MILLS, son of Ivor and Sandra Mills of Woolwich Township.

School Activities:  Second year Co-Founder and Co-President of the American Sign Language Club, sitting Vice President of the World Language Honor Society, second year as Vice President of Finance for DECA, Vice President of Mathematics Club, Vice President of Biology Olympiad, previous representative for the Anti-Bullying Club, member of Key Club, and part of the Business Leadership Academy.

Out of School Activities:  Wrote and published a research paper on the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, led a community outreach event while helping market for two local businesses with a peer, organized and ran an annual charity drive for Glad Dogs Nation, and attended American Legion Jersey Boys State.

Honors/Awards:  Received a score of 1540 on the SAT (with a perfect math score), National Small Town and Rural Recognition recipient, AP Scholar with Distinction, City Councilman at ALJBS, second place in regional competition for Business Finance at DECA, third place at state competition (and qualifier for nationals) in Business Finance for DECA, National Honor Society inductee, and World Language Honor Society inductee.

Future Plans:  Ivor is planning on pursuing higher education, studying economics and public policy, and will, hopefully, be continuing education for a Doctorate in economics.  He hopes to become a professor in the future after a few years in the finance or legislative field.

SENIORS OF THE MONTH FOR OCTOBER

Daniel Allen

DANIEL ALLEN, son of Randy and Gina Allen of Mickleton.

School Activities:  Marching Band, Select Jazz Ensemble, Musical, Percussion Ensemble, Choir, Chess Club, Model UN, Tenor Bass Choir, Key Club, Yearbook, Mock Trial, Anti-Bullying Club, and Student Council.

Out of School Activities:  New Jersey Region 3 All-South Jazz Ensemble, SE4SK Social Media Advisor, Business Manager/Lead Vocalist/Keyboardist for his band (Deep Blue), which has been hired for lots of shows over the course of high school, such as musical orchestra performances, parties, county days, and even was hired to be the house band for a local, professional entertainment center (Harbaugh Village).

Honors/Awards:  Vice President of the National Honor Society at Kingsway, Rhythm Section Captain in the Marching Band, Musical Director of Kingsway’s Tenor Bass Choir, and Tri-M Music Honor Society President.

Future Plans:   Daniel plans to pursue a dual major in Music Composition and Marketing. Through this, he will be able to reach his full potential in music and, hopefully, be able to keep it in his life as his career.

DeShon Cooper

DeSHON COOPER, son of Dennis and Leona Cooper of Woolwich Township.

School Activities:  Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Theater, and Interact Club.

Out of School Activities:  Going to car shows, reading, and ROTC.

Honors/Awards:  National Honor Society of High School Scholars, Superintendent’s List, Honor Roll, and Student of the Month.

Future Plans: After he graduates, DeShon plans to go to college and get his BS degree in Business Administration. With that, he plans to become an entrepreneur and owning one or more car dealerships, get into real estate and own a plethora of rental properties, and become a venture capitalist. Lastly, he would like to give back and help with the poverty issue around the world!
