Swedesboro Man Charged with Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material

WOODBURY – A Swedesboro man has been charged and arrested for distribution, possession with intent to distribute, and possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns announced.

Dexter L. Reed, 25, of Swedesboro, was arrested on Sept. 12, 2025. He has been charged by complaint with first-degree possession of CSAM with intent to distribute, second-degree distribution of CSAM, and second-degree possession of CSAM.

Reed was remanded to the Salem County Correctional Facility pending his first appearance in court.

According to documents filed in this case:

The investigation began with a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a user was distributing CSAM over multiple social media platforms. On Aug. 20, 2025, detectives from the High Tech Crimes Unit of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office executed a search warrant at Reed’s residence in Swedesboro.

Six digital devices allegedly belonging to Reed were seized at that time. A subsequent search of the seized devices revealed evidence that one or more of the devices contained CSAM.

The maximum penalty for first-degree crime is 20 years’ incarceration and a $200,000 fine. The maximum penalty for a second-degree crime is 10 years’ incarceration and a $150,000 fine.

Prosecutor Johns credited the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office’s High Tech Crimes Unit with the investigation that led to Reed’s arrest. Prosecutor Johns also thanked the Logan Township Police Department, under the direction of Chief Joseph Flatley, for their assistance in the execution of the search warrant.

The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
