LODGE — Joseph Carey Lodge Jr. passed away in Mariposa, Calif., on Dec. 7, 2016.

MILETTA — Betsy J. Miletta (nee DuBois), 47, of South Harrison Township and formerly of Hopewell Township passed away May 25 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia after a courageous and hard fought struggle against cancer. Her family and friends were continuously by her side. She worked at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland and most recently was the Corporate Director of Medical Imaging for Kennedy Health Systems in Washington Township.

Betsy is survived by her husband of 22 years, David J. Miletta Jr., one son, Matthew D. Miletta, two brothers, Jason and Chad, several aunts, uncles and cousins, her mother, who resides in Florida and her grandmother, Jean Kotok, also of Florida. She was predeceased by her father, Ronald B. DuBois and her grandfather, Jack Kotok.

SUCHOCKI — Thomas ‘Ski’ Suchocki of Mickleton, 73, died on May 25. Beloved soulmate of Carole Medeiros, devoted father of Shannon Suchocki (Paul), dear brother of Paul Murphy (Violetta). Also survived by Carole’s daughter, Michelle Schoch and her children, Natalie and Ryan as well as many loyal employees. Ski was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during Vietnam where he served as a salvage diver. He possessed an extremely driven entrepreneurial spirit from an early age and started Flag Service & Maintenance, Inc., a company he owned and operated for over 44 yrs. As a Master Diesel Mechanic and Instructor, he prided himself in being the best in his field by attending and teaching many training classes. When he was not working, which wasn’t often, he enjoyed fishing on his yacht “Miss Flag,” listening to country music, and relaxing by his pool.

MALINOSKI — Jeffrey B. Malinoski age 47 years of Brigantine, died May 26 in his home. Jeff was born in Woodbury and raised in Mickleton where he graduated from Kingsway High School Class of 1988. He then graduated from Rowan University and received his Master’s Degree in Real Estate from Rochville University.

Jeff served as Deputy Mayor of East Greenwich for nine years in the 1990’s and he worked as a project manager for Janney Montgomery Scott in Philadelphia. He was one of the founders of South Jersey Baseball Academy, manager of the South Jersey Stingrays youth baseball team and he also coached for East Greenwich Little League. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Nascar fan.

He is survived by his parents, Alfred and Barbara Malinoski of Mickleton; his sister, Barbara and Joseph Gallagher of Mickleton; his fiancee, Denise Keen of Brigantine; his sons, Tyler and Hunter Malinoski; several nieces and nephews and his pet beagles, Ginger, Lucky and Willow. WELDON — Shawn Patrick Weldon, age 48, raised in Swedesboro until moving to Richmond VA to be with his brother, Christopher and sister Shari Weldon, passed away on June 3 with his family by his bedside. He lived in Richmond with his devoted wife Kay, daughter Regina Owen, and stepson George Nelson Hart Jr. He was the son of the late Betty Anne Dean Weldon of Swedesboro and his father Charles of Mechanicsville VA. He is survived by his wife Kay (Mann) Weldon his beloved brothers Eric of Philadelphia, Christopher D. (Stephanie) of Aylett, VA, sister Shari N. Weldon of Highland Springs VA, nephews Justin, Caston, Aaron, Mason Weldon, two grandchildren, nephews Bob and Sharon Dean Parker of Pennsville, NJ, and Harry (Bud) Bernice Dean of Mullica Hill, his cousins Shannon, Bridget, J.D. and their families, and his best friend Eric Slade who was always there for him. He was predeceased by his beloved brother, Jeffrey Weldon, who passed away in 1993.

HUNT — Robert Hurff Hunt went to be with his maker on June 5, age 93. Bob was a lifelong resident of Logan Twp. He worked with his father on one of his grandfather’s two farms in Center Square until 1943 when he moved to the 200-plus acre farm on Oldman Creek Road. He later bought that farm and at one time had over 100 acres of asparagus. Farming, family and hunting were his passions. He would fatten 60 steers each winter and also worked at Chrysler Assembly Plant in Delaware to help make ends meet.

Bob was eight years old when he became a member of the Center Square United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the class of 1941 Swedesboro High School. In 1954 he married his childhood sweetheart from Swedesboro, Betty Gold, daughter of Leo T. and Myrtle Gold. He started a life with Betty in January 1954 that has lasted 63 years.

In 1963 Bob sold the farm and took a job at Monsanto Chemical Co., retiring after 25 years of service, many years never missing a day. His love of land and hunting took him on many trips starting in 1938. He hunted with the Hunt Hunting Club in the Pine Barrens. Their camp then was WWI surplus tents. They built a permanent camp but it burnt down in 1963. He then joined the Antler Club of Woodbury, where he has been an honorary member for many years and the oldest member, bagging in the 2015 season, according to the old timers, the largest rack in club history.

Bob was a quiet, unopinionated man who was liked and respected by all who knew him well and his dry sense of humor. His hunting took him and lifelong friends to Nova Scotia, Maine and PA for many years and many hours of stories of deer hunting. Bob has also worked the last 20 years on his sons’ farm where he has a reputation for exterminating those pesky groundhogs.

Bob was born on 12-13-23 to Foster V. Hunt Sr. and Edith Dawson Hurff. He was predeceased by a sibling, Foster V. Hunt, Jr. of WV, one step daughter, Linda M. Learch, a daughter, Jayne L. Misero. He is survived by his wife, Betty G. Hunt, a step daughter, Susan and Alfred Morgan of Bridgeville, DE, a son, David R. and Alisha Hunt of Logan Twp., two sons-in-law, Dominic Misero of Quinton and Billy Learch of Virginia, eight grandchildren: Jill, Justin, Adam, Rebekah, Charlotte, Foster, Cooper and Parker.

VILLANOVA — Douglas Paul Villanova (“Piccolo” or “Pic”), age 70, of Clarksboro passed away June 5 at home from esophageal cancer. Douglas graduated from Glassboro State College, completing two post-graduate masters degrees in the field of education. He formerly served as a teacher and principal for the East Greenwich School System, also being named 1974 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year for his innovative techniques of teaching science.

Douglas was an avid sports fan coaching youth baseball, basketball, and soccer throughout the years. Later in life, Douglas exhibited his passions through a meticulously kept lawn as well as a love for all aspects of the University of Notre Dame athletics program. Douglas was best known for his nimble wit and perpetual ability to bring laughter to a room.

Son of the late Monica (Sharbaugh) and Joseph Villanova. Husband of Shirley A. Villanova (nee Doerrmann), also survived by son Patrick Douglas Villanova, brother Dean (Elaine) Villanova, sisters Judy (Joe) Stalter, April (Bill) Gott, Carla (Lester) Abernathy, sister-in-law Joan Villanova. Predeceased by brother Kenneth Villanova.

FINOCCHIARO — John Harry Finocchiaro, 74, died June 6, at his home in Harrells, NC, following a fight with cancer. He was born on January 10, 1943 in Swedesboro, the son of the late Harry and Josephine (Monaco) Finocchiaro.

He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Rebecca (Mathews), his son, John Eugene and siblings Marty (deceased), Mary Kane, Sandra, Harry, Joe, Philip, Marian Bushey, Michael, Alfred, Steven, Anne Rice, Rose, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

John graduated from Swedesboro High School in 1961 and served proudly in the United States Coast Guard from 1964 to 1968. He met his wife Rebecca through friends and they were married in 1968 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Wilmington, NC.

John started Superior Millwork, Inc., in Wilmington, NC in January 1975, which he and Rebecca operated until May 2006. He took great pride in his business and cherished the friends he made during his time in Swedesboro and Wilmington. After retirement they relocated to the Harrells Community where they established Deerpath Farm, a muscadine vineyard. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and working in his vineyard.

SHARPLESS — Vida Lorette (Holland) Sharpless, age 80 of Swedesboro, passed away June 4 at Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice Inpatient Center in Mt. Holly, NJ.

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, TX to the late Lon and Thelma (Henderson) Holland, she graduated high school, and then from Delmar Junior College, where she met her husband. In 1958 Vida married and soon started her family, before moving to Baltimore, MD 14 years later. She lived in Southern New Jersey for the past 16 years.

For many years Vida worked as a librarian at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

While living in Texas, she was an active member with the Methodist churches. She was also active with the volunteer committee at her senior community. Vida was a world traveler, visiting all seven continents and over 80 countries. She will be remembered as a champion bocce ball player. Cake decorating, making clothing and preserves, and square dancing were just a few of her favorite hobbies.

Vida will be sadly missed by her husband of 58 years, Lawrence; her children, Dana Sharpless of Santa Monica, CA, and Terry Sharpless of The Villages, FL; three grandchildren, Kristie Gleason, Kimberly Forsythe, and Austin Sharpless; and one great grandson Jack Gleason. She was predeceased by two brothers, Jerry and Jimmy Holland.

REDKOLES — Mary A. Redkoles (nee Konzik) age 97, of Carneys Point passed away on June 10. Born and raised on High Hill Road in Logan Twp., she worked on the farm with her husband. She was an amazing cook and loved flowers. Mary was also an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Swedesboro.

Wife of the late, John F. Redkoles, she is survived by her son, John A. Redkoles and his wife Alfina of Carneys Point, four grandsons, Leonard, John S. and his wife Bonnie, Charles, and Paul and his wife Kelly, five great grandchildren, Kristen and her husband Rob, Jennie, Sofia, Natalie, and Nicholas, one great great grandson, Lincoln, her brother-in-law, Andy Redkoles, her sister-in-law, Anna Paranzino, and many, nieces, nephews, and their families. Mary was predeceased by her sister, Anna, and two brothers, Paul and John.

McDONALD — Michael E. McDonald (Mickey), age 22, of Mullica Hill passed away on June 13. Beloved son of Judy A. McDonald-Dunn (nee Nardella) and her husband Ronald Sr., and Frank X. McDonald Jr. Loving brother of Frank X. McDonald III, Megan McDonald (Dom Pandorf), Lisa Dunn and Ronald Dunn, Jr. Adoring grandson of Richard and Judith Nardella and Joan Chapman, and loving nephew of John and Dana Durante.

Michael loved life, his family and his dogs, Bradley and Martin. Michael volunteered in his spare time at a local rescue. He was a devoted friend to many and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

COSTA — David A. Costa, 59, a life resident of Swedesboro, passed away June 13 at Cooper Medical Center, Camden, NJ. David was a graduate of Kingsway High School, Class of ’76 and was a self-employed truck driver.

He is survived by a son, David Jr., his mother Barbara (Nee Harris), brother Michael, nephew Stephen and Nieces Stacy and Stephanie. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Sr. and brothers, Stephen (Cosmo) and Brian.

Services were held at the Cheega Funeral Home. Internment at Lake Park Cemetery, Woolwich Twp.

DENELSBECK — Donald A. Denelsbeck, age 74 years, of Mickleton died June 14 in his home with his family by his side. He was born in Woodbury and raised in Mickleton where he lived all of his life. He was a veteran serving in the Army National Guard. Mr. Denelsbeck retired after 43 years of service as a Research Technologist at DuPont Experimental Station, where he also was on the emergency response team. He served as Lieutenant and Training Officer for 27 years for East Greenwich Ambulance Association. Mr. Denelsbeck was also an EMT instructor for Salem County as well as a CPR instructor for both the Red Cross and American Heart Association . He was a past member of Clarksboro Lodge #87, F. & A.M. and was an avid Jeff Gordon and Nascar fan.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Beatrice Denelsbeck (nee Russell) of Mickleton; his children, Kevin Denelsbeck of Melbourne, FL, Ruthann Denelsbeck of Mickleton, Steven and Lisa Denelsbeck of Mickleton; his brother, James Denelsbeck Jr. of Woodbury and several cousins and friends.
