SWEDESBORO — Swedesboro Woolwich Day 2013 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., bringing back a few favorites and some new attractions.

The festivities will follow the 7th Annual 5k Dragon Run, which benefits the Nathaniel Boerlin Scholarship Fund. Details and registration information for the race can be found at www.NateRocksHeaven.org. The winners of the run are announced at the opening of the event at the main stage at 10 a.m.

This year’s event is guaranteed to exceed your expectations and entertain as you stroll through downtown Swedesboro. History of the area can be experienced first-hand with Civil War re-enactors being at the John C. Rulon House.

The Swedesboro Woolwich Historical Society quarters on the second floor of Swedesboro Borough Hall will be open for tours throughout the day. This past year, Society members have set up several rooms categorizing the rich history of Swedesboro and Woolwich. Swedesboro Day is a great opportunity to visit.

The Car Show returns again this year and exhibitors will showcase antique cars ranging from the 1950’s through the muscle car era. Over 100 cars will line Kings Highway from Borough Hall to East Avenue, with trophies being awarded to the top vehicle in several categories.

Because of our generous sponsors, we are excited to offer free activities for all age groups. The Fun Bus will be near the stage from 11a.m. to 2 p.m.; Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels will bring some animals to check out at the Kids Stage from 11a.m. to 12:30.

Additionally, two moon bounces, caricaturists, balloon artists, elaborate face painting, and Dennis the Magician will all be featured this year. Attendees can also enjoy entertainment by two bands on the Main Stage, community dancers, theater groups and a karate demonstration. A strolling juggler and stilt walker will be amongst the crowd.

The big inflatable will be a 65 foot Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course. Kingsway Soccer Club will bring the Kick & Score soccer challenge to the event, and SWLL/Kingsway Knights will have the Speed Pitch booth, both located at Schoener’s lot. All sports-related booths will be located at the north end of Kings Highway.

The day will offer a Crafter’s Court from Franklin Street to Ashton Avenue, where several new crafters are coming to Swedesboro, along with many vendors who are excited to return. In the Botto’s parking lot, surprise guests will take part in this year’s Dunk Tank. Watch “celebrities” from Swedesboro, Woolwich and Kingsway take the plunge into the water to benefit the Kings Things Food Bank.

You can sit and enjoy a bite to eat at the Food Court on Railroad Avenue and you’ll also find delicious local fare mixed in amongst the blocks of booths from the Kids Zone at Grant Avenue to Church Street. Come mingle, eat, and have fun at Swedesboro Woolwich Day on Sept. 28.

Since there will be no parking on Second Street, Church Street, and Grant Avenue (vendor parking), the best way to get to the event is to hop on a shuttle from Kingsway High School, Charles Stratton School, or Walter Hill School. Buses will run continuously throughout the day.
