woolwich plaque webWOOLWICH TWP. — According to an article in the New Jersey Real-Time News, Woolwich Township is ranked as the third fastest growing municipality in the state.

The fastest growing was Lebanon Borough in Hunterdon County, followed by Weehawken in Hudson County.

According to their information, Woolwich went from 10,305 residents in 2010 to 12,365 residents in 2016. This increase of 2,060 residents meant a 20 percent increase. Lebanon had an increase of 297 residents, resulting in a 21.7 percent increase. Weehawken had an increase of 2,572 residents for a 20.5 percent increase.

Woolwich Township has been known as one of the fastest growing municipalities on the east coast since 2000.

Their information also stated that New Jersey had one of the lowest population gains in the country at only 1.7 percent according to census date.

But despite the still continuing growth of Woolwich Township, it is repeatedly listed as one of the top safest cities by several different studies. According to LendEDU’s latest report, Woolwich is ranked as the 58th safest city in the state. East Greenwich ranked 71. The other local municipalities did not make the top 100.
