WOOLWICH TWP. — The 3rd annual Ryan’s Home Run Derby will be held on May 21 at 10 a.m. on the Ryan K. Iannelli Memorial Field at Kingsway Regional High School.
This event is the main fundraiser for the Ryan’s Foundation Scholarship, and is held every year on Armed Forces Day, May 21 with a rain date of May 22. At 10 a.m. there will be a formal military ceremony with a fly over out of McGuire Air Base, weather permitting.

On September 28, 2011, Marine Corps Captain Ryan Iannelli was killed while performing combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. A foundation was begun to honor Ryan and share his story as they help those in need. Come out and join in the celebration to honor and remember Captain Ryan K Iannelli, USMC. Although this event was birthed out of Ryan’s passion for baseball, it also encompasses other passions of Ryan’s heart, which are family and friends being together and fun for children.
There will be a carnival of games and prizes, face painting, balloon artist clown, food, music and fun.
The foundation will once again be awarding a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Ryan’s alma mater, Kingsway High School. This student will be chosen from an essay contest. This year’s title is: “The Heart of America.”

They are: “Diamond Classic” for $1,000.00 – includes an individual banner with your name/company logo and your name/company mentioned throughout the event by our emcee; “Grand Slam” for $500.00 – includes a shared banner with your name/company logo and your name/company mentioned by our emcee; and “Home Run” for $250 – includes a shared banner with your name/company logo.
