ROBINSON – R. Daniel Robinson, aka, “eZ Dock Dan”, 67, of Mullica Hill and Ocean City, is now at peace after a brief illness, passing on April 5.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Marcia Robinson (nee McNair) and his loving family, Dana and Les Frie, Linsley and Jason Shainline, Megan and David Naphy, and beloved grandchildren Ava, Jake, Gavin, Lacey, Aaron and Austin. Also survived by his siblings Earl and Susan Robinson, Joann and Ray Brooks, and Cindy and Ray Dupont.

HERITAGE – Mary Jane Heritage (nee Everline) of Clarksboro died on April 22, surrounded by her family. Aged 89 years.
Mary Jane was a farmer’s wife, who worked the family farm for many years. A sweet, caring woman, she had a smile for everyone she met. Her family was very important to her, and she took pride in all her children. Mary Jane was active in her church, especially the Joy Circle. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crocheting, and playing pinochle.
Beloved wife of the late Roscoe; loving mother of Susan Dillon, Dorothy (Dave) Hickman, and John Jr. (Linda); dear sister of Marguerita (Bill) Whitaker; adoring grandmother of 8; great grandmother of 15, and great great grandmother of 5.

CARUSO – Edward Joseph Caruso, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and helpful friend to many, peacefully entered his heavenly home at the age of 85 on April 23.
Born January 16, 1928 in Philadelphia to farming parents John and Josephine Caruso of Swedesboro. Edward was a proud employee of I.E. DuPont Company in Deepwater for 35 years and, after retirement, worked an additional 15 years at Village Arms in Carney’s Point.
Edward was also a Korean War Air Force veteran receiving seven medals: Army Good Conduct Medal; American Campaign; Victory-World War II Medal; Army of Occupation World War II Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal and United Nations Medal.
Edward leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Tsuya M. Caruso, three daughters, one son and daughter in law, plus six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Son, Edward J. Caruso, Jr. and daughter-in-law Heather Burdine Caruso of Alpharetta, GA. His daughters, Mary Cheeseman of Kingsville, TX; Angela Caruso of Lockhart, TX; and Josephine Caruso Rathe and husband John of Colorado Springs, CO. Edward was predeceased by his first son, John Anthony Caruso, in 1971. His beloved grandchildren are Brenton Cheeseman of Houston, TX; Kimberly Cheeseman of New Orleans, LA; Miguel II and Seth Hernandez of Lockhart, TX; Casey Spencer of San Diego, CA; John Gonzalez and wife Laura of Colorado Springs, CO with great grandchildren Carmen and Rylan.
Edward’s sister, Mary Schubert of Bridgeport and numerous nieces and nephews join the celebration of his life.
CUESTA – James F. Cuesta of Woodstown and formerly of Mullica Hill passed away on April 27. Age 80 years.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Nejette (nee Spangler); devoted father of Peter and his wife Kimberly; loving grandfather of Madison and Abigail; dear brother of Thomas, John, and late Joseph and Virginia; also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Prior to retirement, Jim worked for Bell Tell Communications, working as an inside security representative. He had a passion for woodwork, which he created many magnificent pieces. He was a loyal parishioner of Holy Spirit, and just last year received the award, Parishioner of the Year, for his dedication and efforts he put into the church.

FRAMPTON – Edwin Frampton, 78, of Clarksboro, passed away on April 28. Edwin worked at DuPont in Gibbstown for 15 years before becoming a self-employed carpenter. He served in the Sentry K9 Unit of the US Air Force. He was an avid woodworker and former member of the East Greenwich Lion Club.
Edwin is survived by his wife of 56 years Joan Leonard Frampton; 2 daughters Sheryl A. (Russell) Zappala of Swedesboro and Peggy S. (David) Roberts of Lakeland, FL; son Scott A. (Megan) of Brooklyn, NY; 2 sisters Martha Myers and Maryanne Gallagher; brother Michael; grandchildren Jessica, Timothy, Evan and Rhys; nephew Brian and niece Debbie.

RICHARDSON – Miss Mariam Richardson, age 95 years, of Mickleton died April 28 in Underwood Memorial Hospital, Woodbury. Miss Richardson was born in Wenonah and lived in the same house in Mickleton since 1921. She worked as a secretary for National Bank and Trust Company, Woodbury. Miss Richardson enjoyed gardening and caring for her yard.
She is survived by her cousins, Madeline Haines of Clarksboro, Mildred Thompson Harbison of Woodstown and several other cousins and friends.

LAUGHLIN – Florence Marie Laughlin, 90. Florence started as a Philly girl then crossed the river to raise her sons in Stratford. For a short time she resided in Chesilhurst, and finally in Swedesboro. Florence had many jobs, but when summer came she’d quit and devote all her time to her boys. Her typing and stenography skills were so good that she was always rehired when the kids headed back to school. Her favorite employer was Curtis Publishing Co.; they always forgave her summer absenteeism. Some argued that her last position was the result of nepotism – she was a “professional will witness” in her daughter in law’s law office. Though she was never officially hired, she was eminently qualified to be a sportscaster for the Phil’s. Being on time was not good enough for Florence. She arrived early for any appointment. No matter where she went (the Acme, Casinos, and her son’s home) she was neat and impeccably dressed.
Her teen years found Florence doing a lot of roller skating. That’s where she met her former husband, Joseph. She is survived by their two sons: Joseph D. Laughlin Jr. (JoAnn) and James J. Laughlin (Kathleen) and grandchildren: Kristen, Andrew, Joseph D. III, and Rebecca K. and her cat, Jerry. Predeceased by her parents, James and Anna Nutt and her cats, Tom and Dolly and her poodle, Pierre.

RERA – Cheryl Ann Rera, 56, died at home suddenly on May 6. Cheryl was naturally curious and creative. Her business career started as a beautician then she went on to own a flower shop, the Flower Bazaar in Philadelphia. Later she became an EMT which led to becoming an ultrasound technician. Not content, Cheryl took advanced courses and became competent in all aspects of ultrasound procedures. Eventually her expertise opened to a position selling medical equipment to many cardiac offices with a national company. On the home front she displayed her green thumb with a manicured lawn and an artistically designed landscaped garden.
You may have met Cheryl when she walked her dog companion, Kita, in Swedesboro and Woolwich.
Her survivors include her mother Janet Tomlin, her best friends of 25 years, Mary Keenan, brothers Leonard and Nicholas, sisters Denise, Christina and Melissa and nieces Ashley and Shannon.

RODE – Earl C. Rode Jr., 86. Perhaps dating back to his days as a drummer in the Henny Hendrickson Orchestra, Earl lived life to a snappy beat. He enjoyed being a little off color but a small crowd always gathered around to hear his tales and enjoy a few of his jokes.
Earl took the reins of Otto C. Rode Poultry, a family endeavor that was started in 1880, and branched out in different directions. As one market would close, Earl would find another. One new direction was their catering business. Rode Catering Trucks outnumbered Action New Vans. Their bar-b-q chicken, an Earl recipe, is enjoyed at weddings, family parties and even casino events. He sold eggs and poultry to chain stores like Acme, A&P, and Penn Fruit. Those markets kept changing so Earl opened the Roost, a convenience store, in 1970. It was a wholesale/retail outlet for their products plus bakery items. Always needing a new challenge he purchased the Fireside Lounge in 1991.
But Earl wasn’t all work and no play. His talent in baseball, refined at Swedesboro High School, led to being scouted by the Cleveland Indians. That career ended when he received a letter from his Uncle. He trained for the Japanese invasion but the fighting was over before he arrived. But never one to miss an opportunity, he segued into black market sugar. Discharge brought him back to Swedesboro and the family concern.
Beckett Golf Club opened when he was in his forties. Earl ran out and bought some clubs, eventually becoming a 3 handicap, winning club championships there and at Woodbury C.C. and carding 4 hole-in-ones. Wednesday nights found him scarfing down some dinner and heading out to the Glassboro Bowl. He hunted with the Woodbury Antlers, shot trap at Aetna Gun Club, and played a little tennis at Haddonwood. Any vacation was fine as long as he could fish or golf.
Earl married his high school sweetheart and business partner, Elaine Schober, and settled on Rode Row. They spoiled four children, David (Joyce), Jane Eyre, Betsy (Dr. Stephen) Rioux and the late Chris (Jean), 8 grandchildren (even more spoiled) and a slew of pets. Earl even brought home an emu, a castoff from a neighbor.

ZORN – Ruth K. Zorn, 90, of Logan Township, passed away on May 10. Ruth was born in Salem and has resided in Logan Township for 25 years. She was a teacher’s aide in Gibbstown.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Walter in 2004. She is survived by her sons Robert L. of Thorofare and George W. of Millville; daughter Judith Cavicchio of Freehold; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

CHANDO – Esther M. Chando (nee Bacon), of Logan Township died on May 15. Age 86. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Chando Jr. Devoted mother of E. Dianne Marchione (Danny), Carolynne Kwaikoski, Joseph III (Kathy), John (Diane), Mary Wright (Wayne), James (Louise) and Joanne. Dear grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 7. Esther was a former member of St. Teresa’s RC Church in Runnemede. She enjoyed watching movies and playing on her computer, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

DONNELLY – Joseph Edward Donnelly, age 86 died May 22 Formerly of Mt. Laurel and Willingboro, he has lived in Mickleton for the past 6 months. Joseph was a World War II veteran serving in the US Navy from 1944-1946. He served in the South Pacific Theater. He was a supervisor at Mobil Oil in Paulsboro, retiring in 1993. Joseph enjoyed volunteering at the Battleship New Jersey in Camden and spending time with his family.
He was the husband of the late Florence D. (nee Dapp). Survived by his children Beverly (Robert) Rowell, Pat (Martha), Joanne DeCoux, Colleen (Chris) Williams, siblings Thomas, Mary Neill, Elizabeth “Betty” Kornstead, Larry, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
