Seniors Of The Month For September
SARAH REYNOLDS, daughter of Mark and Laura Reynolds of Swedesboro.
School Activities: Mock Trial, Play, Musical, National Honor Society, Drama Club, Choir, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Student Council.
Out of School Activities: Dance, Summer Theatre, and Youth Group.
Honors/Awards: Honor Roll and Superintendent’s List for multiple years.
Future Plans: Sarah plans to attend TCNJ to receive a master’s degree in English Literature and teach at the college level, and possibly become involved in publishing.
AUSTIN SCHOBER, son of Rick and Patricia Schober of Mickleton.
School Activities: Class President for sophomore and junior years and was recently elected for the senior class president. Student Council executive board parliamentarian for two years and has been elected to the National Honor Society parliamentarian for senior year. He is also a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society. Austin is also involved in a variety of school events, such as homecoming preparation, Red Cross blood drive, and many other events. He is also a member of varsity soccer and is a lacrosse player.
Out of School Activities: Austin is a student member of the Gloucester and Salem Community Advisory Panel, a board that meets with local industrial leaders to improve communications between industry and the community. He is also involved in church events, such as blessing store food drives and playing trumpet at the Eglington cemetery during Easter service. Austin also earned a second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do karate.
Honors/Awards: Austin was accepted to and attended the Naval Academy Summer Seminar in the summer of 2013, along with being nominated and selected for the Governor’s School of Engineering and Technology at Rutgers University. It was a month-long experience with intensive courses and a small-group research project. Austin’s team designed and developed an electric motor that could be utilized as an electromechanical battery.
Future Plans: Austin will be applying to the United States Naval Academy. He hopes to graduate with a degree in aeronautical or mechanical engineering and serve his country as a Marine Corps aviator. Afterwards, he hopes to find a career working for a company such as Boeing or Lockheed Martin.
