WOOLWICH TWP. – If you want to enjoy a nostalgic experience to savor your Christmas? Then plan to come out to Old Stone Church on Christmas Eve at 11 p.m. and step back more than 200 years in time to put yourself on the same benches where some of your early ancestors may have worshiped.
Come gather with neighbors and friends for this historic service, singing carols as you watch the organist working his feet to pump the old pump organ. Then help to brighten up the church in the closing candlelight ceremony as you sing “Silent Night” while you light your neighbor’s candle.
You will experience all this in an ancient brownstone building, lighted by kerosene lamps and candlelight. The only warmth will be supplied by the body heat of the worshipers so bundle up and be prepared to keep warm.
The feeling of the spirit of Christmas that you will get in that historic setting you will long remember. Services begin Dec. 24 at 11 p.m.
