SEWELL – The Gloucester County Freeholders held their annual Federal Medal Ceremony to present 121 federal medals, 24 ribbons and 28 badges to 32 Veterans, eight receiving their awards posthumously.
Local veterans presented the medals were:
DALE L. ARCHER. Archer is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps during Operation desert Shield and Desert Storm, with the rank of corporal. Archer was from Gibbstown and now resides in Mickleton were he serves as mayor.
EDWARD J. SPURKA. Spurka is a veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War, with the rank of sergeant. Spurka was born in Philadelphia and resides in Woolwich Township.
JOSEPH J. TESAURO, JR. Tesauro was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War, with the rank of Sonarman Petty Officer Second Class. He was from Philadelphia and lived in Mullica Hill. Receiving posthumously was his wife Mrs. Mary Tesauro.
