May 1: Officers charged a 26 year old Williamstown man with shoplifting following a suspicious person complaint on Village Center Drive. The man was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence after he ingested heroin which had been secreted in his groin. He was processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail in default of bail.
May 2: A Cherry Hill contractor working on Center Square Road reported that someone damaged his Kotmatsu excavator by introducing contaminants into the engine compartment. The cost to repair the damage was estimated at $25,000.
May 2: Investigators charged a Logan juvenile with computer related theft following an investigation at Logan Elementary. The matter is pending adjudication.
May 2: Officers charged a 61 year old Woolwich man with DWI following a motor vehicle complaint on Village Center Drive. The man was processed and released pending court.
May 4: Officers charged a 25 year old Mickleton man with possession of CDS (heroin) and possession of a hypodermic syringe following a Center Square Road vehicle stop. The man was processed and released pending court.
May 6: A 37 year old Plainfield, NJ man, allegedly under the influence of marijuana laced with PCP, was charged with multiple offenses following a report of a disorderly, uncontrollable employee at a business on High Hill Road. The man became combative with officers, and eventually was subdued with the assistance of chemical agents. He was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, being under the influence of CDS, and possession of marijuana. He was transported to Inspira for medical treatment.
May 7: Police investigated a theft complaint from a business on Veterans Drive. A suspect has been identified and complaints are pending.
May 8: Officers investigated an identity theft/fraud in which a Logan woman’s credit card was compromised numerous times in excess of $6,400. A suspect has been identified and complaints are pending.
May 8: Police charged a 45 year old Milford, PA man with defiant trespass, harassment and stalking following a disturbance at the Holiday Inn. He was processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail in default of $7,500.
May 9: Officers charged a 42 year old Woolwich woman with DWI, reckless driving and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle following an erratic driver complaint on High Hill and Beckett Roads. The woman was additionally charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer after she kicked and punched officers during processing. She was processed and taken to Inspira Hospital for further evaluation.
May 10: Police investigated an attempted burglary that occurred overnight on Bordeaux Drive in which someone tried to enter a first floor window. The suspect removed the screen and probed the exterior looking for unsecured windows. Landscaping lights were damaged in the process.
May 11: Officers responded to Sprint Mobile Works on Beckett Road for a criminal mischief complaint-shattered front door. Further investigation found that the business had been burglarized in the early morning hours and 29 cell phones and an undetermined amount of cash had been taken from within. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage in an effort to identify those responsible.
May 12: Officers charged a 14 year old Logan juvenile with simple assault following a disturbance at Township Line Park. The matter is pending juvenile proceedings.
May 12: During the course of an investigation into a disturbance at the WaWa, police arrested a 25 year old Salem man on a $10,000 warrant out of Salem City for assault. He was processed and remanded to the Salem County Jail.
May 13: Police charged a 60 year old Bridgeport man, John Hager Jr., with contempt after officers determined he violated conditions of bail previously set forth in Superior Court. A $5,000 warrant has been issued for his arrest.
May 15: A representative of AT&T reported that copper bus bars and wire were stolen from a cell tower in Bridgeport. Replacement and damage costs were estimated at $3,500.
May 15: Officers, responding to an audible alarm, investigated an attempted burglary and criminal mischief at Main Street Dental on Beckett Road. The perpetrators attempted to gain entry by removing a fist floor window screen and entering via an unlocked window. It appears as if the alarm may have deterred the burglary as nothing was reported stolen.
May 16: Officers investigated a theft complaint at the McDonalds on Center Square road. The theft occurred when the suspect used a “sleight of hand” technique during a request for a money exchange.
May 17: Police investigated a disturbance on Village Center Drive involving a heavily intoxicated person who was assaulted by an unknown white male following a dispute. The intoxicated male, a 47 year old Flowery Branch, GA man, was transported to Inspira for treatment. Charges may be pending
May 19: A Hunters Road resident reported that her unsecured car was burglarized sometime overnight, and loose change valued at $20 was removed from within.
May 20: A Carriage Lane man reported that his vehicle was entered overnight and various items with little or no value were taken from within.
May 20: A representative from Central Septic Service reported that a portable toilet valued at $1,200 was stolen from a job site on Nortonville Road.
May 20: Officers investigated a daytime burglary and theft from a residence on Oldmans Creek Road. The homeowner reported numerous pieces of electronics and computers were stolen from inside the home. The suspect/s gained entry by forcing open a rear first floor window.
May 21: While investigating an early morning suspicious vehicle complaint on Center Square Road, officers arrested a 25 year old Auburn man who was wanted (NCIC) out of Palm Beach County, Florida on a parole violation. The man was arrested, charged with being a fugitive, and lodged in the Salem County Jail to await extradition.
