SWEDESBORO — For the third year, Swedesboro is offering residents and local communities “Dancing in the Street”, a summer concert series, and kayaking on Lake Narraticon.
The first “Dancing in the Street” concert was held on June 18 featuring The Toonz, a Rock and Roll cover band. The evening started with dance lessons for the children, led by Katharine Flaherty Sayre of Dance Artistry.
Free water ice was provided by Mosquito Shield and Gloucester County EMS provided water misters to help keep the crowd cool.
The concert series is made possible by Swedesboro Economic Development Committee. The last two concerts will be held on July 16 with the Seventies by Love Alive and August 20 with Motown by All Souled Out.
All three concerts will take place at the vacant lot between Botto’s and Tavro 13 (Old Swedes Inn) on the Gloucester County Mobile Stage. Kings Highway will be closed at 6 p.m. to vehicle traffic. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to Fellowship Hall located in the rear of Bethesda Methodist Church.
Each event will open with a kid friendly performance by Dance Artistry at 7 p.m. The main event will start around 8 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their own chairs and dancing shoes. Smoking is prohibited.
The Swedesboro Woolwich Municipal Alliance and the Swedesboro Woolwich Environmental Commission have partnered with “Splash & Paddle” to provide two kayaking events on Lake Narraticon on July 12 and August 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Kayaks, paddles and life vests will be provided.
