ROBBINSVILLE, NJ — Clearview Regional High School District Business Administrator (BA)/Board Secretary and Mullica Hill resident Esther R. Pennell, CPA, RMA, PSA, QPA, recently was honored by the New Jersey Association of School Business Officials (NJASBO) with a 2014 Distinguished Service Award for her long-term, continuous exemplary service.
As part of the award, Pennell had the honor of presenting a $1,000 scholarship from NJASBO to Clearview Regional High School senior Brendon Wilmer. Pennell says she chose Wilmer because he plans to study accounting at Kean University and is a hard worker.
Among just six Distinguished Service Awardees statewide, Pennell has served as BA/Board Secretary for the Clearview Regional High School District since 2007. She has been a BA since 1998, working previously for Woodbury City, South Harrison and Salem County Vocational Technical Schools.
In nominating Pennell for the Distinguished Service Award, Robert Scharle, president of Gloucester County ASBO (GCASBO) noted she is the second longest tenured BA in Gloucester County and shares her wealth of knowledge with other SBAs. “Esther has managed numerous facility construction projects with great success, including a solar project. This experience has benefitted all the SBAs in Gloucester County that routinely seek her advice in these matters,” says Scharle.
Pennell has been very active in the GCASBO, providing invaluable leadership as both Vice President and then President of the organizations, and mentoring five SBAs. She currently is a
member of NJASBO’s Accounting Committee, and has been a workshop presenter for its BA 101 program, as well as an NJASBO Conference moderator. Pennell also has been a presenter at the NJSBA Conference.
Pennell is a Certified Public Accountant and a Qualified Purchasing Agent. Previously, she was the Vice President of the ERIC South Insurance Advisory Group. Pennell received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Rutgers University and currently is taking classes to receive her Master’s degree in school leadership from Rowan University.
