LOGAN TWP. — Police here have arrested two Salem County men following a parking violation and, as a result, have uncovered numerous proceeds from several burglaries in neighboring counties.
The arrest took place at approximately 8:15 p.m., July 26 when Ptl. Joe Tropea observed a Ford Focus parked in a handicap slot at the Rite Aid on Village Center Drive.
While speaking with the occupants, 18 year old Issac Marcano III of Elmer and 22 year old Chad Jackson of Pennsville, Ptlm. Tropea observed a pill bottle containing Codeine pills which were prescribed to a Carneys Point woman. Neither occupant could identify the owner or explain its existence in the vehicle.
A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of burglar tools and a lock box containing 73 pieces of jewelry, including high value watches.
Both Marcano and Jackson were charged with possession of prescription legend drugs and possession within 1000 feet of a school zone. They were processed and lodged in the Salem County Jail in default of $7,500. Based on information developed during the course of their investigation, investigators executed a search warrant on the trunk of the car and found 21 GPS devices, three cameras, Beats headphones, and a cell phone.
Marcano and Jackson have been identified as suspects in multiple burglaries in both Camden and Cumberland counties. Investigators are working cooperatively with representatives of the NJSP-Bridgeton Barracks, Bridgeton City Police Department, and Voorhees Twp. Police Department in an effort to return the effects to their rightful owners.
Additional charges of receiving stolen property and possession of burglar tools are pending. Ptlm. Tropea was assisted by Sgt. Joe Lombardo and Ptlm. Andy Keleshian.
