SWEDESBORO — This time of year everyone is wondering, “Where is the time going?” The holidays come sooner than we believe possible and Kings Things, as they do every year, is once again increasing our appeal to our friends for their help in making the holidays happy for those in need.
While Kings Things provides food and other necessities to the needy all year, extra effort is needed for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year, Kings Things collected, sorted, boxed, and delivered complete dinners for both holidays to over 200 families, as well as gifts for the children at Christmas.
This is made possible by the generous donations from our local churches, schools, businesses, and individuals who continuously lend their time and talent to these projects.
With the unemployment rate stagnant, cut backs in SNAP (food stamps), and reduced funding from other charitable organizations, the impact on Kings Things has been severe. New families receiving food from the Food Pantry and requests for financial aid, has also increased. This has left Kings Things with a 15 percent cash deficit at present.
Kings Things asks that you keep this in mind and that you will be as generous as usual and perhaps increase your help this year.
