SWEDESBORO — Trinity ‘Old Swedes’ Episcopal Church will be hosting a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, Feb. 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Parish House on Kings Highway in Swedesboro.

Long ago this was a day for feasting and having a good time. People went to church to confess the bad things they had done and would be ‘shriven’ or forgiven before the start of Lent.

As rich foods such as eggs were forbidden during Lent, one way of using them up would be to make pancakes. In France and the United States Pancake day is called Mardi Gras which means ‘Fat’ or ‘Grease Tuesday’.

Everyone is invited to experience the Mardi Gras revelry prior to beginning your Lenten fast. Your tickets include: pancakes, Haines sausage/sausage gravy, fried potatoes, beverage, applesauce, dessert, beads, and a special Mardi Gras surprise.

Reserve tickets by calling the Church office at 856-467-1227 or you may purchase at the door. Tickets are adults $8 and children 12 and under – $4.

The Episcopal Church welcomes you.
